About Zulu
Check our his movies running around with other doggy friends on this page.
1) Generally
- Good with Other Dogs
- Not Good With Cats
- Good with Kids + 12 yrs due size
- Toilet Trained
- Size 24 kgs
2) Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Active, playful, good with other dogs and kids plus loyal and super affectionate.
Zulu truly has a beautiful , warm temperament and will make a wonderful addition as long as his new family can reciprocate the affection with loads of cuddles and pats.
Zulu likes to meet and play with other dogs but can be a little wary initially. He will generally approach cautiously with his tail wagging - once friendships are made he will run around with other dogs and play.
Zulu's favourite things include running, playing with children and other dogs and being showered with attention.
He dislikes: being alone for long periods but is fine for half day.
3) Ideal Owner
Zulu will fit in almost anywhere but ideally he would love to share fun times and cuddles with someone home more often than not, like folks with older kids, active retirees or empty nesters. Keep in mind, Zulu is still very active and needs daily, good quality exercise.
Homes with another friendly dog may be considered but preference will be given to homes where he is the only permanent dog, just so he can have all the love !!.
While Zulu is good with kids we recommend homes where any kids are at least teenagers and only if gentle and calm around dogs.
He will not suit homes where people live in very close proximity to each other with small outside areas e.g. villas, units, apartment complexes, terrace houses, strata complexes etc.
As Zulu is people orientated he needs to be part of family activities.
Zulu will not suit homes with residents that are:
- very young, frail, elderly,
- renters,
- novice dog owners or
- time poor.
4) Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Will alert to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker.
Zulu will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not.
- stay at home parent.
- someone that works from home.
- part time workers.
- empty nesters.
- active retirees.
5) Exercise Requirements
Medium to high. His new owner cannot miss a daily outing. He needs regular exercise and mental stimulation like most Kelpies.
6) When ON a lead ...
Like most dogs he starts off pulling but settles.
7) When OFF a lead ...
Zulu usually stays close by and comes when called.
8) Type of Yard Required
- Medium to large interesting and secure.
- May take advantage of an open gate and wander off but does not usually try and escape.
- Ok with shoulder height fencing.

Adoption details
ADOPTION PROCESS (simple and easy)
1. Read the dog's detailed profile thoroughly - for you to self screen
2. The Expression of Interest (EOI) form MUST be completed prior to a meet and greet.
https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
3. Speak to the carer/owner directly for more detailed info to determine if there are any 'deal breakers' - designed to save time and avoid falsely raising hopes.
4. 'Meet & Greet' - you travel to where the dog is. If you have a current dog it must meet too. We strongly recommend all members of the family attend. Both parties may wish to report their thoughts to each other but MUST update Dog Adoption directly too.
5. The dog MUST not be taken on the day unless PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS have been made e.g. travelling more then 2 hrs round trip. In this case we need a minimum of 2 days notice. The adoption agreement and payment must be made before collection of the dog.
6. Normally, both parties have a think about the meeting, and if they wish to proceed, the adoption is completed after the adoption agreement, payment and screening is finalised.
7. A 2 week cooling off period commences once the dog arrives.

Folks who complete EOIs have a higher priority then general enquiries - due to a lack of resources. Your info is protected under Privacy Legislation.
