About Saxon
1) Generally
- Good with Other Dogs
- Not Good With Cats
- Good with Kids + 12 yrs due size
- Toilet Trained
- Size 29 kgs and still growing (not even a year old)
2) Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
This young pup is good with dogs, friendly, loyal , playful and affectionate. He is also smart and quick to learn.
He loves humans but can be a little shy when first meeting strangers but once he warms up he is extremely friendly.
He loves playing with other dogs although he does tend to chase birds and chickens.
Saxon is very active and needs good quality exercise and mental stimulation. He is also a big, funny baby who likes to cuddle or chill out on the lounge and get smoochy.
He will bond quickly to his new owner.
3) Ideal Owner
Active singles or couples, perhaps with teenagers or older, looking for a young, active and friendly dog.
His family would prefer he is the only permanent dog in the home so he can have all the attention but would enjoy playing with visiting dogs.
While Saxon is good with kids we recommend homes where any kids are at least teenagers and only if gentle and calm around dogs. No dog deserves to be rough housed or exposed to a loud, chaotic environment.
He will not suit homes where people live in very close proximity to each other with small outside areas e.g. villas, units, apartment complexes, terrace houses, strata complexes etc.
As Saxon is people orientated he needs to be part of family activities.
Saxon will not suit homes with residents that are:
- very young, frail, elderly,
- renters,
- novice dog owners or
- time poor.
4) Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Will alert to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker.
Saxon will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not.
- stay at home parent.
- someone that works from home.
- part time workers.
- empty nesters.
- very active young retirees.
As he is still a pup Saxon needs toys to chew, especially when bored, otherwise he might start on something else.
5) Exercise Requirements
High. Saxon needs daily walks / runs and will play non stop when in off lead areas.
6) When ON a lead ...
Making progress. Good unless distracted. Should be easy to train.
7) When OFF a lead ...
Mostly comes when called and stays with his owner.
8) Type of Yard Required
- Medium to large interesting and secure.
- May take advantage of an open gate and wander off but does not usually try and escape.
- Ok with shoulder height fencing.

Adoption details
ADOPTION PROCESS (simple and easy)
1. Read the dog's detailed profile thoroughly - for you to self screen
2. The Expression of Interest (EOI) form MUST be completed prior to a meet and greet.
https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
3. Speak to the carer/owner directly for more detailed info to determine if there are any 'deal breakers' - designed to save time and avoid falsely raising hopes.
4. 'Meet & Greet' - you travel to where the dog is. If you have a current dog it must meet too. We strongly recommend all members of the family attend. Both parties may wish to report their thoughts to each other but MUST update Dog Adoption directly too.
5. The dog MUST not be taken on the day unless PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS have been made e.g. travelling more then 2 hrs round trip. In this case we need a minimum of 2 days notice. The adoption agreement and payment must be made before collection of the dog.
6. Normally, both parties have a think about the meeting, and if they wish to proceed, the adoption is completed after the adoption agreement, payment and screening is finalised.
7. A 2 week cooling off period commences once the dog arrives.

Folks who complete EOIs have a higher priority then general enquiries - due to a lack of resources. Your info is protected under Privacy Legislation.
