About Esker - Dingo X
Hello there. My name is Esker.
Is there room for me at your place? I’m a big softie who loves to cuddle. I'm looking for a quiet home to retire with a soft bed and lots of pats. I am house trained/toilet trained, I love sleeping indoors and I'm good in the car as well.
I had a bit of a rough start in life, I had an accident when I was younger and broke my leg. It healed in a funny way and was causing me lots of pain. After I arrived at Sydney Dingo Rescue, they did a big fundraiser for me to see a special orthopaedic vet. Ever since my surgery I have a new lease on life! I am pain free, active and couldn’t be happier. My whole personality has changed.
I love to play with all the volunteers at the rescue and wag my tail as soon as I see someone I know. I can be a little shy at first, but once I get to know you we’ll get on great!
I like to go for walks and I’m a real gentleman on the lead- I only need short walks of 20-30 minutes because of my special leg. I'm ok with most other medium or large dogs, but I need to meet them first to see if we’re a match. I would be best as an only dog though, because humans are my number one favourite companions.
I need a patient quiet home who have past experience with rescue dogs and/or reactive dogs and are willing to check in regularly with our dog trainer and behaviourist. Because of my past leg injury and surgery I can be sensitive to being startled or woken suddenly when sleeping or having my leg bumped or moved. I would be better suited to a house without stairs.
I prefer adults and older kids, a home with no young children would be best. I cannot live with birds, cats or pocket pets.
Fencing:
Esker requires secure 5 foot/1.6m fencing.
Animal rescue is considered essential. SFDR can still come to you for meet and greets, yard checks and animal adoptions. We have volunteers in Canberra and New South Wales and can come to you even if you we are not in your local government area. Distance is not an issue when we are looking for the perfect homes for our dingoes. Please note we have COVID safety measures in place.
Adoption details
Please note at this time pending legal advice we are unable to offer fox kit adoption to private owners.
Dingo Adoption:
1. Send an email inquiry with your name and contact details outlining your current living situation, pets and family members and anything else you think might be relevant, particularly what your house and yard are like. Remember our dingoes typically require an enclosure or modified fencing.
2. We will email you back adoption information and an application form to fill out and return to us.
3. If your application is approved- Come along to meet us and our dingoes at our Gouburn shelter or their foster carers home and let us find the right furry family member for you. We can also come to you. We drive dingoes all over NSW and the ACT to meet families interested in adoption.
4. Before you can pick up your new dingo you will also need to under a house/yard check and pay your adoption fee. No animals are rehomed unless their adoption fee is paid in full and a yard check has been completed.
