About Diaz (& Bucky)
1) Generally
- Good with Other Dogs Although Wary
- Not Good With Cats
- Kids + 12 yrs Recommended due size
- Toilet Trained
- Size 30 kgs each
2) Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Social. friendly, playful and affectionate - this young pair will suit families with kids even if the parents work full time.
Both dogs are very affectionate and loves pats and cuddles.
Like many dogs they are wary of other strange dogs and tend to stay together. Diaz will try and steal cuddles from Bucky by positioning himself in front.
They are gentle with the 1 year old child in the home.
Bucky and Diaz also enjoy playing with a ball in the back yard, belly scratches and playing tug-of-war together.
3) Ideal Owner
Active singles or couples, perhaps with older kids, who have time to enjoy the companionship of two well behaved, affectionate and low maintenance dogs.
They are ok for full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as they are a central focus when people are home and have each other for company.
While they are ok alone they prefer the company of their human family.
While they are good with kids we recommend homes where any kids are at least teenagers and only if gentle and calm around dogs. No dog deserves to be rough housed or exposed to a loud, chaotic environment.
They will not suit homes where people live in very close proximity to each other with small outside areas e.g. villas, units, apartment complexes, terrace houses, strata complexes etc.
As Bucky and Diaz are people orientated they need to be part of family activities.
They will not suit homes with residents that are:
- very young, frail, elderly,
- renters,
- novice dog owners or
- time poor.
4) Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Will alert to something strange but are not currently nuisance barkers.
They will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not.
- stay at home parent.
- someone that works from home.
- part time workers.
- empty nesters.
- active retirees.
- full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as they have each other and are a central focus when folks are home.
5) Exercise Requirements
Medium - playful and moderately active.
6) When ON a lead ...
Like most dogs they start off pulling but settle.
7) When OFF a lead ...
Their recall needs work. They are not currently allowed off the lead.
8) Type of Yard Required
- Medium to large interesting and secure.
- May take advantage of an open gate and wander off but do not usually try and escape.
- Will dart through an open gate or door and take off.
- Requires 6' (2 meter) high fencing.
9) Contractural Note
Cannot be separated after adoption in accordance with the Dog Adoption Terms and Conditions. Dog Adoption may ask for updates from time to time.
Adoption details
ADOPTION PROCESS (simple and easy)
1. Read the dog's detailed profile thoroughly - for you to self screen
2. The Expression of Interest (EOI) form MUST be completed prior to a meet and greet.
https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
3. Speak to the carer/owner directly for more detailed info to determine if there are any 'deal breakers' - designed to save time and avoid falsely raising hopes.
4. 'Meet & Greet' - you travel to where the dog is. If you have a current dog it must meet too. We strongly recommend all members of the family attend. Both parties may wish to report their thoughts to each other but MUST update Dog Adoption directly too.
5. The dog MUST not be taken on the day unless PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS have been made e.g. travelling more then 2 hrs round trip. In this case we need a minimum of 2 days notice. The adoption agreement and payment must be made before collection of the dog.
6. Normally, both parties have a think about the meeting, and if they wish to proceed, the adoption is completed after the adoption agreement, payment and screening is finalised.
7. A 2 week cooling off period commences once the dog arrives.
