About Willow
Meet Willow.
Cheeky and playful and, quite frankly a charmer, she is an independent punk-rock chick with a mind of her own and a true love affair with roast chicken. Best suited to a home with another cat, Willow gets along well with dogs, other cats, guinea pigs and older children.
Willow is amazingly resilient - Her strength of character and ability to overcome adversity in the toughest of conditions cannot be over emphazized... She has overcome enormous challenges in foster care since being rescued from the streets where she was living as a feral cat underneath an industrial dumpster and being harassed by feral tomcats and exposed to the weather extremes. When Willow entered the care of Paws and Claws she was dangerously underweight, on heat, covered in tomcat spray, infested with fleas and worms, had scratches and rough and dirty fur, and had experienced years of constant kittens to care for and never-ending pregnancies, interspersed with regular abuse from unhappy car and business owners that were sick and tired of the noise, pee, upturned rubbish, and stench that feral cat colonies are infamous for... Human kindness was an oxymoron and something to be deeply distrusted.
After vet care, and almost 12 months of intensive rehabilitation in foster care with a mentor cat, Willow's gums are now looking healthy, her fur has come up soft and silky and her eyes and ears are bright and clear. She has gained not only a healthy weight - but even perhaps has a little bit spare now too!!! Just in case, of course.
From such a rough start and beginning completely afraid and un-trusting of humans, Willow has grown into her own skin with soft, glossy fur... She has discovered the joys of ducted heating, loves to sprawl out across our kingsize bed and curl up with a drink to check out that latest episode of Inked.
Most impressive though, has been Willow's willingness to grow into trusting her human family. Overcoming her previous experiences was not easy and she was initially very fearful, but her burgeoning trust in human kindness has been phenomenal and absolute delight to witness. She now loves to hang out, sleep on the bed, play with toys, and follow us around the house. She is mischievous and fun - Loving to "help" and give you advice in the kitchen (hint: apparently there is no such thing as too much catnip or roast chicken in any meal ever!!). Although we are uncertain of her exact birthday, Willow is approximately three years old and loves to come sit next to you on the couch or bed and share pats and ear scratches - Just as long as long as no-one is watching and she knows you well enough to trust you to not kiss'n'tell.
Willow is a remarkable, precocious and loving cat full of personality and spunk. She is much loved - and will be a wonderful addition to any home where she can continue to play and learn and love, further develop her security in being treated kindly by humans, and share her unique (and somewhat dry and sarcastic) sense of humour with her family.
She is currently living in Sheidow Park and no-obligation meet and greets are welcomed.
Willow is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated and her adoption fee is $90.
NB: For clarity, please note that Willow is the tabby in the photos below... The ginger and white cat (the second cat visible in some of the photos below), is our resident mentor cat named Illy who is not available for adoption.
