About Gus
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
Meet Gus! This easy going, affectionate boy came to us from the local pound and is looking for a home to call his own.
Gus is an adorable, very sweet natured goofy boy, who is a delight to have around. He is currently fostered with other dogs and gets on well with them, although he was a little intimidated at first and barked at them, so he will need very gentle introduction to any new dogs, especially large or boisterous dogs as he is very fearful of them. He has shown chasing behaviour towards cats and birds so we would recommend that he goes to a home without any smaller animals.
Gus loves to go for a walk or a swim at the beach and enjoys his naps after his walk just as much. He loves to play, and his favourite games are playing tug and chasing a ball. He also loves to chew his foster carers' garden hose into nice 50-70 cm pieces!
He needs some training on his lead and will lunge at other dogs. He is very food focused so this would be a good training tool. He has a good recall and has learnt many commands in his foster home. He will also sit and wait for his dinner.
Gus is house and crate trained. He will bark at strangers or other animals or when someone is at the door. He likes to ride in the car and travels very well. He loves to take his toys to bed with him and cuddle them to sleep. He is currently living with male and female dogs and has a blast playing with them. He is good with gentle older children (7+ years). He is a delightful boy and is very eager to please.
Gus came to us with an injury to his left elbow. Recent x-rays have shown early onset arthritis in this joint which will not affect his quality of life as long as it is managed carefully with weight control, avoiding high impact or strenuous exercise and good quality food to support muscle growth. We also give Gus a joint supplement to protect his joints going forward. At the moment he gets 2 to 3 walks a week and lots of garden play with the resident dogs. In time he may require more gentle walks if he's not getting as much playtime.
The ideal home for Gus will be a home where he has the company of another similar sized dog, with a family that will allow him to be inside as he wishes and include him in their everyday activities and outings. He would also love to have lots of toys to play with, and needs a large, secure yard to let off his energy.
If Gus sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please submit an enquiry and we will be in touch.
