About Milo
1) Generally
- Good With Other Dogs When He Is Off the Lead
- Not Good With Cats
- Never Been Exposed to Kids
- Toilet Trained
- Size 55 kgs
2) Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Like most Great Danes , Milo is a gentle giant but is naturally protective, in this case, when on a lead.
Off lead Milo is curious and friendly. He likes to investigate, chase birds and stay close to his owner - occasionally doing 'zoomies' to burn off energy.
He is playful with other dogs whilst off lead - wanting the other dogs to chase him - and is sometimes cheeky with people - putting his head down and bum in the air wagging his tail enthusiastically.
Milo will shadow his owner around the house, inquisitive about what it happening. He will then nap and chill out. Milo likes to smooch on the couch too !!
Milo is a ladies man and is suspicious of males, but will warm to them. When on the lead he will warn off people and other dogs - as he is 55 kgs Milo will need an owner with strength.
Milo becomes a ''chatterbox diva'' when he thinks he's not getting enough attention (the staffy in him) and can be a lazy boy when he chooses (the great dane side).
Milo will certainly make any lady feel safe at home.
3) Ideal Owner
Active singles or couples who have experience with large breeds looking for an entertaining, affectionate and sometimes cheeky companion.
Milo responds well to consistent training and will benefit with a little more tuition.
He is ok for full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as he is a central focus when people are home. While he prefers company he can cope alone.
Milo would like another friendly dog for company but this is not essential.
Milo has never been around children. We recommend homes where any kids are at least teenagers and only if gentle and calm around dogs. No dog deserves to be rough housed or exposed to a loud, chaotic environment.
He will not suit homes where people live in very close proximity to each other with small outside areas e.g. villas, units, apartment complexes, terrace houses, strata complexes etc.
As Milo is people orientated he needs to be part of family activities.
He will not suit homes with residents that are:
- very young, frail, elderly,
- renters,
- novice dog owners or
- time poor.
4) Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Will alert to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker.
Milo will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not.
- someone that works from home.
- part time workers.
- empty nesters.
- active retirees.
- full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as Milo is a central focus when folks are home.
Milo's mission in life is to find the squeaker in stuffed toys so it is best to give him strong rubber toys to chew.
5) Exercise Requirements
Medium - playful and moderately active.
6) When ON a lead ...
Like most dogs he is ok unless distracted. He is protective of his owner when on the lead. Curious and friendly when off the lead.
7) When OFF a lead ...
His recall is good unless distracted.
8) Type of Yard Required
Medium to large interesting and secure.
May take advantage of an open gate and wander off but does not usually try and escape.
Requires 6' (2 meter) high fencing.

Adoption details
ADOPTION PROCESS (simple and easy)
1. Read the dog's detailed profile thoroughly - for you to self screen
2. The Expression of Interest (EOI) form MUST be completed prior to a meet and greet.
https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
3. Speak to the carer/owner directly for more detailed info to determine if there are any 'deal breakers' - designed to save time and avoid falsely raising hopes.
4. 'Meet & Greet' - you travel to where the dog is. If you have a current dog it must meet too. We strongly recommend all members of the family attend. Both parties may wish to report their thoughts to each other but MUST update Dog Adoption directly too.
5. The dog MUST not be taken on the day unless PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS have been made e.g. travelling more then 2 hrs round trip. In this case we need a minimum of 2 days notice. The adoption agreement and payment must be made before collection of the dog.
6. Normally, both parties have a think about the meeting, and if they wish to proceed, the adoption is completed after the adoption agreement, payment and screening is finalised.
7. A 2 week cooling off period commences once the dog arrives.
