About Penny
1) Generally
- Not Good With Other Dogs - but loves people
- Not Good With Cats
- Good with Kids + 12 yrs due size
- Toilet Trained
- Size 18 kgs
2) Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Loyal, affectionate, loving, generally quiet, stable and a trustworthy companion - like most staffys.
Penny loves the water and swimming. She will need a pool or pond to cool down in during summer.
Penny loves people and will give her new owner 'ooodles' of licks and kisses.
Penny is not friendly with other dogs but adores people including kids.
3) Ideal Owner
Active singles or couples looking for a devoted and loyal companion to spoil.
Penny is ok for full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as she is a central focus when people are home.
She needs to be the only permanent dog in the home.
While Penny is good with kids we recommend homes where any kids are at least teenagers and only if gentle and calm around dogs. No dog deserves to be rough housed or exposed to a loud, chaotic environment.
She will not suit homes where people live in very close proximity to each other with small outside areas e.g. villas, units, apartment complexes, terrace houses, strata complexes etc.
As Penny is people orientated she needs to be part of family activities.
penny will not suit homes with residents that are:
- very young, frail, elderly,
- renters,
- novice dog owners or
- time poor.
4) Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Will alert to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker.
Penny will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not.
- someone that works from home.
- part time workers.
- empty nesters.
- active retirees.
- full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as she is a central focus when folks are home.
5) Exercise Requirements
Medium - playful and moderately active. Penny loves going for walks and running or chasing a ball.
6) When ON/OFF a lead ...
Like most dogs starts off pulling but settles. She is not usually allowed off the lead around other dogs as a precaution.
7) Type of Yard Required
Medium to large interesting and secure.
May take advantage of an open gate and wander off but does not usually try and escape.
Adoption details
ADOPTION PROCESS (simple and easy)
1. Read the dog's detailed profile thoroughly - for you to self screen
2. The Expression of Interest (EOI) form MUST be completed prior to a meet and greet.
https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
3. Speak to the carer/owner directly for more detailed info to determine if there are any 'deal breakers' - designed to save time and avoid falsely raising hopes.
4. 'Meet & Greet' - you travel to where the dog is. If you have a current dog it must meet too. We strongly recommend all members of the family attend. Both parties may wish to report their thoughts to each other but MUST update Dog Adoption directly too.
5. The dog MUST not be taken on the day unless PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS have been made e.g. travelling more then 2 hrs round trip. In this case we need a minimum of 2 days notice. The adoption agreement and payment must be made before collection of the dog.
6. Normally, both parties have a think about the meeting, and if they wish to proceed, the adoption is completed after the adoption agreement, payment and screening is finalised.
7. A 2 week cooling off period commences once the dog arrives.

Folks who complete EOIs have a higher priority then general enquiries - due to a lack of resources. Your info is protected under Privacy Legislation.
