About Benji - On hold pending adoption
Have you ever loved a beagle before?
Benji is a beautiful boy....He's a very active 12 month old youngster and always on the go. Being a beagle he loves to use his nose and "vacuum up" all the lovely scents out there so for a benji, every walk is a big wonderful, exciting, fun filled adventure. He needs lots of stimulation to keep up with his high energy nature. This also means proper ongoing training is a MUST, to solidify and enhance what he is currently mastering.
Side note:- If you love dog sports, beagles also make great agility or nose work companions - Its a great way to get out, meet like minded dog lovers and have lots of fun.
Benji loves to play with other dogs and is learning how to do that using nice doggy manners, He also loves to ride in the car......more lovely smells coming in the window :)
He would probably enjoy having another well mannered young and active doggie companion, so if you are looking for a playmate for your current dog we can discuss that too :)
Benji sleeps inside at night in a dog crate and he would need to be allowed to continue that lifestyle at your house. Benji is currently being fed a raw and grain free diet, so you would need to be willing to continue this for him.. I can either teach you how to make your own foods for him or link you in to a bunch of companies who prepare for folk to buy. Its very cost effective if you make your own :)
Dear little Benji is on a journey of learning new skills and has been having special training with me.. Because he is young and is still growing ,developing and learning, this training would need to be continued by his new owner. PLEASE DO NOT apply for Benji unless you are willing to continue with his training and development either with myself or another professional trainer/behaviourist who uses the same methods as me. Dont worry though, I can put you in touch with a good trainer if you live a distance away from me. You will get 2 x private one on one training sessions with me as part of the adoption package, which also includes his training equipment.
You would ideally have a large yard for him to play in (no units or apartments as he needs and loves to run); secure fencing and a separate secure quiet place for him to rest in if you needed to go out so that he doesnt get into mischief ..... Remember his is still quite young and so will get cheeky if bored.....that's why his continued training is very important :) A dog run would be a perfect option.
Benji would suit a home with children but Id suggest they would need to be at least 12 years old as Benji may be a little too active for the littler ones.
His new family would preferably be working either at home, (or somewhere where Benji can go with you to work) or working part time......However, If you do work full time you will still be considered for his adoption providing he can have access to a doggy day care or lots of daily play, activity and walks.
Benji has been tested with the cats here and has shown no interest in them so far. As yet he has not been tested around livestock.
If you are interested in Benji or would like to know more about him, please send me an email to request a pre-adoption inquiry questionnaire. Dont forget, your adoption fee includes 2 x private one on one training sessions with me, to get you started and familiar with what Benji has been learning.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Benji says HI ....woof woof :)

1. Email your interest in the rescue pet.
2. You will be contacted for further information and given a questionaire to complete.
3. If you are shortlisted you will be contacted for a house and yard safety check, a meet and greet and a final decision will be made.
4. You will then chose an adoption package - this will only apply to dog applications, which will include ongoing training lessons for both the client and the dog as a team.
5. On the day of your adoption, transfer of ownership and adoption agreement papers are signed, your adoption fee is collected and your new pet stays with you for a negotiated trial period of approximately 1 month. If appropriate, a training session will commence at a mutually convenient time (dogs only).
6. After the trial period, microchip papers are transferred into your name - a copy of which will be sent to you by the microchip company.
7. Finally, we are only a phone call away for the life of that pet so that if you have any issues or problems we are here to assist. We'd love you to stay in touch. Please feel free to send photos and good news stories as we love to receive them :)
