About Raph (& Leo)
1) Generally
- Good with Other Friendly Dogs
- Not Good With Cats
- Kids - 12 yrs or older as may knock a small child over
-Toilet Trained
- Size Raph 30kgs, Leo 35 kgs
2) Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
An intelligent, loyal pet, the Boxer has a high need for companionship and exercise. They are not happy when regularly left home alone.
Boxers are active and playful dogs that like to stay busy. Their temperament reflects their breeding. They prefer to be in the company of their owners and are loyal pets that will defend their family and home against strangers.
Leo and Raph are goos with friendly dogs at home. Leo is also friendly with other dogs socially however, like most Boxers Raph may not back down if challenged.
They are always excited when people come home but might accidentally knock a small child over. They don't mean any harm.
They are beautiful dogs - fun, playful, loyal and rather entertaining.
3) Ideal Owner
Active singles or couples who want companions with them most of the time.
They are ok for full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as they are a central focus when people are home and have a medium to large interesting yard.
While they are good with kids we recommend homes where any kids are at least teenagers and only if gentle and calm around dogs. No dog deserves to be rough housed or exposed to a loud, chaotic environment.
They will not suit homes where people live in very close proximity to each other with small outside areas e.g. villas, units, apartment complexes, terrace houses, strata complexes etc.
As they are people orientated they need to be part of family activities.
They will not suit homes with residents that are:
- very young, frail, elderly,
- renters,
- novice dog owners or
- time poor.
4) Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Will alert to something strange but are not currently nuisance barkers.
Raph and Leo will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not.
- someone that works from home.
- part time workers.
- empty nesters.
- active retirees.
- full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as they are a central focus when folks are home.
It is normal for a Boxer to be destructive if left alone for long periods or not adequately exercised.
5) Exercise Requirements
Medium - playful and moderately active (can miss a daily walk).
6) When ON a lead ...
Like most dogs they start off pulling but settle unless distracted. Leo is more inquisitive and wants to play whereas Raph prefers a good walk.
7) When OFF a lead ...
They are not usually allowed off the lead but once when let off in a paddock they came when called.
8) Type of Yard Required
Medium to large interesting and secure.
Requires 6' (2 meter) high fencing.
9) Contractural Note
Cannot be separated after adoption in accordance with the Dog Adoption Terms and Conditions. Dog Adoption may ask for updates from time to time.
10) Reason For Rehoming
Regrettable but necessary decision due to sudden ill health. The dogs have been very well looked after.

Adoption details
ADOPTION PROCESS (simple and easy)
1. Read the dog's detailed profile thoroughly - for you to self screen
2. The Expression of Interest (EOI) form MUST be completed prior to a meet and greet.
https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
3. Speak to the carer/owner directly for more detailed info to determine if there are any 'deal breakers' - designed to save time and avoid falsely raising hopes.
4. 'Meet & Greet' - you travel to where the dog is. If you have a current dog it must meet too. We strongly recommend all members of the family attend. Both parties may wish to report their thoughts to each other but MUST update Dog Adoption directly too.
5. The dog MUST not be taken on the day unless PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS have been made e.g. travelling more then 2 hrs round trip. In this case we need a minimum of 2 days notice. The adoption agreement and payment must be made before collection of the dog.
6. Normally, both parties have a think about the meeting, and if they wish to proceed, the adoption is completed after the adoption agreement, payment and screening is finalised.
7. A 2 week cooling off period commences once the dog arrives.
