About Polly
Polly was adopted by a family who and now fostering her in the view to rehoming her. Polly is incredibly affectionate, likes to be with you and loves cuddles but she is not clingy. She loves belly rubs and chest rubs and playing tug of war with soft toys and likes a game of fetch. Polly appears to be trusting of all humans and she interacts will with children. She has never shown any signs of aggression towards Humans. Whilst she can get excited, she is not boisterous. She can sit, stay and lie down on command and is very obedient in the house. She always waits for a command before she eats her meal. She is not destructive at all. She's fully toilet trained. She prefers to be inside with her owners but can enjoy her own time in the garden as well. She can tolerate being left at home for long periods and does not have separation anxiety however we feel initially the best family for her would be an owner who is a part time worker that has the time to put into her to train her and become more comfortable around other dogs. Polly has high prey drive so does not want to live with cats. Polly is reactive to other dogs and gets easily stressed by their presence.
Polly came to us emaciated at 12.5kg but is now at a healthy weight. Volunteers say "Gorgeous girl. Very friendly" She has a smooth coat.
NEEDS RESCUE EXPERIENCE: Many people grow up with, or own a dog who has had no bad experiences in life. A dog who is confident and well rounded. However, many rescue dogs have not been as lucky in their lives.
Unfortunately, some rescue dogs have been physically abused, neglected and left traumatised. These dogs need someone with previous rescue experience in rehabilitating traumatised dogs with an in depth understanding of and experience in building relationships with these kinds of dogs.
Garden: Needs a home that has more space as well as a garden for exercise and regular walks outside.
Suit Part Time Worker: Copes alone for short periods, with training possibly longer but presently does need someone home part of the time
Medical notes
She comes desexed, C5 vaccinated, heartworm free and microchipped. Also included for the love and health of our dogs is a free Health and Wellness Voucher with our DR Vet.
Adoption details
DoggieRescue is a charitable organisation and as such we rely very much on volunteers to manage our adoptions. We answer initial adoption enquiries by email or phone and then arrange an appointment for you to meet some of our rescue dogs.
At DoggieRescue we believe our dogs deserve to find that special someone who will love them and look after them forever. We know that there are homes out there that are willing to accommodate one more little member of the family and dedicate time to their well being.
