About Patch
1) Generally
Good with Other Dogs
Not Good With Cats
Good with Kids + 12 yrs
Toilet Trained
Size 8kgs
2) Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Mini Fox Terriers are fearless and bold like a terrier, but enjoy the companionship and affection that comes with being pampered like most small dogs. They also like to be the centre of attention and don't like sharing the love.
'Foxies' bond deeply with the people they love and insist on being treated as a full member of the family.
Patch loves cuddles, attention, walks and hugs but doesn't like being outside in the wind, being ignored or sharing attention.
When meeting new doggy friends Patch is initially fine but after time will tire of their company and chase them off.
Patch is a great dog. He loves people who love him back and needs to be the primary focus.
3) Ideal Owner
Singles or couples looking for a small, happy and devoted companion to share good times and lots of affection.
Patch prefers company but can cope alone.
Like many Foxies, Patch needs to be the only permanent dog in the home as he likes all your love and attention.
Mini Fox Terriers are typically not recommended for families with young children. They will object to being rough housed or exposed to a loud or chaotic environment.
Patch will not suit homes where people live in very close proximity to each other with small outside areas e.g. villas, units, apartment complexes, terrace houses, strata complexes etc.
As Patch is people orientated he needs to be part of family activities.
He will not suit homes with residents that are:
- very young, frail, elderly,
- renters,
- novice dog owners or
- time poor.
4) Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Will alert to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker.
Patch will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not.
- someone that works from home.
- part time workers.
- empty nesters.
- active retirees.
5) Exercise Requirements
Low - short strolls or playtime at home. Toy Foxes do not need a lot of vigorous activity to maintain health and happiness.
6) When ON a lead ...
Like most dogs starts off pulling but settles.
7) When OFF a lead ...
Patch's recall needs work - he is good at times.
8) Type of Yard Required
- Medium to large interesting and secure.
- May take advantage of an open gate and wander off but does not usually try and escape.
- Ok with shoulder height fencing.

Adoption details
ADOPTION PROCESS (simple and easy)
1. Read the dog's detailed profile thoroughly - for you to self screen
2. The Expression of Interest (EOI) form MUST be completed prior to a meet and greet.
https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
3. Speak to the carer/owner directly for more detailed info to determine if there are any 'deal breakers' - designed to save time and avoid falsely raising hopes.
4. 'Meet & Greet' - you travel to where the dog is. If you have a current dog it must meet too. We strongly recommend all members of the family attend. Both parties may wish to report their thoughts to each other but MUST update Dog Adoption directly too.
5. The dog MUST not be taken on the day unless PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS have been made e.g. travelling more then 2 hrs round trip. In this case we need a minimum of 2 days notice. The adoption agreement and payment must be made before collection of the dog.
6. Normally, both parties have a think about the meeting, and if they wish to proceed, the adoption is completed after the adoption agreement, payment and screening is finalised.
7. A 2 week cooling off period commences once the dog arrives.
