About Ruby
Introducing Ruby!
Ruby is a stunning 5month old cavalier cross poodle. Even though she is a Cavoodle she DOES shed hair and is NOT hypoallergenic.
Ruby is a people lover and loves anyone and everyone. She is so friendly and affectionate.
Ruby is fully house trained and will use puppy pads when there is no access to outside. Ruby loves getting out and about meeting people and other dogs.
She is very playful and friendly towards dogs of all sizes however can get annoying towards older dogs as she is a whole lot of excited puppy energy.
Despite her injury ruby is very active.
She loves chewing on sticks and loves soft toys with squeakers.
Ruby can be abit of a barker when new people come to the house we are training her not
To do this.
She knows all the basics such as sit,
Drop and shake. She also knows to wait for her dinner and breakfast.
Ruby loves her food she gets a variety of raw and ivory coat puppy food. It’s important she is kept lean throughout her life to reduce the pressure on her joints.
Ruby is great with kids but can be quite excitable around them so is suitable for kids who are used to energetic dogs only.
Ruby can get some separation anxiety so a home where someone is around more often then not is best or someone with another dog to keep her company. She would do great in a home that would take her to doggy daycare and socialise her regularly.
Now to the serious part regarding her medical condition We were surrendered ruby with a broken toe she had a cast on and as per the old owners vets instructions we would re X-ray when the cast was due to be taken off/changed. So our vets reviewed the old vets xrays and her history and then conducted their own xrays.
Our vets are very confident Ruby didn’t have a broken toe to begin with they have reviewed the xrays and can’t see a break but can see where the previous vet may have thought they saw one.
The biggest issue is her wrist injury. She has something called a carpal hyperextension injury. This was likely the original injury.
Sadly this injury is not one that can be operated on right now so it needs to be managed and operated on at no earlier then 14months when she is finished growing. If surgery is done before this age you will cause damage with the growth plates. Depending on the specialist opinion when she hits that age amputation may be an option also.
Our vets are hoping as she grows the injury will tighten but it will hAve to be monitored and managed.
She will need to start on lots of supplements and will likely have arthritis young and need to be on injections.
In saying all of that ruby will live a relatively normal and a very happy life. It’s all about finding the right family willing to do all the ongoing things.
The family will need to be financially secure as she could be an expensive dog long term.
Of course the families that are genuinely interested in providing her a forever home will be able to have a chat to our vet and he is writing us a report with what ongoing supplements and care she needs
Medical notes

Sadly this can not be operated on yet as she is still growing it will need to be operated on after 14months of age
