About Ivy and Evie
These beautiful girls have had a rough start to life. They were rescued from a rural pound along with 8 other cats who had all come from the same house. We are not exactly sure what had happened to them but when we arrived to collect them the cats were petrified and we believe that because Ivy and Evie were at an age when any bad experience can really effect them long term, it has taken them longer than the other cats to trust that we are not a threat to them.
They have however come a long way from when they first arrived at hq but now it is crucial that they find a carer or a forever home so that they continue to improve. Unfortunately we simply do not have the time to spend with them one on one at hq because we are busy with all of the other animals in care and what they need is someone patient who understands that it will take them longer to feel comfortable. They would really benefit from being in home environment where they are almost forced to interact with a person or family.
It would be fantastic if we could find them a forever home together as they are bonded. But at this point we are willing to split them up and even finding them a foster carer until the right forever home comes along would help immensely.
If you think you could help Ivy and Evie please get in touch.
Adoption details
Application process: To apply to adopt one of the cats we have in care you can either email us at thegoatandthemare@gmail.com or call the contact person listed on that particular pets profile and they will send you an application form as soon as possible.
Two week trial period: A two week trial period is mandatory with all of our adoptions. This allows both you and your cat to get to know each other in your own environment.
In the rare case that the arrangement isn't working out during the two week trial period, you can bring them back and we will refund the adoption fee minus a $50 administration fee.
Adoption day: Once approved we will arrange a convenient day and time for you to take your new kitty home. We try to be as flexible as we possibly can so if you are not able to collect him or her from the carers suburb, we are always open to dropping him or her off to you, or to meeting somewhere more convenient for both you and the carer.
Adoption fee: The adoption fee is payable by either cash on the day that you collect your new pet, or by electronic funds transfer prior to adoption day. The pets contact person will be able to give you bank account details once your application has been successful.
*please note that the pet will not be able to leave our care unless the funds transfer has cleared into our bank account by adoption day.
The adoption fee for all cats and kittens includes desexing, microchipping and vaccinations. We will provide you with copies of the medical certificates on adoption day along with the adoption contracts. And once the two week trial period has been successful, we will send all of the original certificates via registered post, along with the cats microchip number and instructions for how to transfer it over to you.
We will always provide ongoing advice and support throughout the lifetime of your cat. And if you need to re home them at anytime, wether it be in two months or in 10 years, the cat must be returned to The Goat and the Mare SA.
We look forward to finding you the perfect match for your family.
