About Digger
Meet Digger, a very handsome, middle-aged golden boy.
Digger is generally quite a chilled dog who is happy to relax with you during the day. He loves human company and would quite happily fill his day with 24-hour belly rubs if your arms were available. He loves humans so much that he has a tendency to escape his yard if left alone, so for this reason would suit a family where there was someone home often and with high, secure fences.
Digger is an alpha male and not very good at sharing things with other dogs so it would suit him to be either an only dog with maximum human contact, or in a house with a submissive or easy-going dog. Digger has a strong prey drive and so will not be suitable in a home with cats or pocket pets.
His favourite toy is a soft one that can be thrown around like a rag doll. After a quick game of tug-of-war he is more than happy to toss a toy around by himself. Digger’s second favourite game is to hoard any items of clothing you may have left around the house. He will bundle these up into his little stockpile for safe keeping but won’t chew or destroy them.
Pick up his dog leash and Digger will be most excited as walks are awesome! He will require a daily walk of at least 30 minutes to keep his brain entertained. His recall is very good when there are no distractions, however due to his prey drive he will not return your calls if he spots something to chase down or will run off to greet another dog. For this reason he is currently kept on a long leash when walking while his recall is in further training.
Overall Digger is a very well behaved dog. He doesn’t steal or beg for human food, is not destructive and is toilet trained. He has basic obedience training and is very gentle, making a great companion for the right family. All Digger is looking for is love, and pats… lots and lots of pats.
Digger is located in Canberra ACT and is available for adoption. Digger comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm and intestinal worm treated with a ton of love and a gorgeous smile for the right family for a re-homing fee of $450.
Adoption details
Please go to the website http://www.rescuealabrador.com/
to submit an adoption application. Please click on the adopt a dog link on the left hand side of the screen and complete the questions if you are interested in adopting aLabrador.
We will not discuss specific dogs with you until you have completed this questionnaire as this allows us to establish which dogs are potential matches for your lifestyle.
Once we have found a suitable match to your family, we will allow you to contact the appropriate foster carer who will discuss the dog in more detail with you.
Once you are both satisfied that this is a good match you will be able to meet the Lab. If all goes well, you will be able to take the dog on a 2 week trial. You will complete the adoption paperwork and pay the adoption fee at this stage.
At the end of the 2 week trial you will be able to adopt the Lab and we will submit the microchip transfer to the council.
