About Harvey
1) Generally
Good with Other Dogs - when on the lead (never been off lead)
Not Good With Cats
Kids Not recommended - as previously been hurt by rough kids
Toilet Trained.
Size 21 kgs
2) Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Harvey is loyal, affectionate, resilient and quick to learn. He will follow you to the end of the earth and brighten your day with his bright and happy demeanour.
He enjoys human company, chasing balls, fresh meat, the company of other friendly dogs and having an area where he is allowed to do a little digging.
After a rough start being rough housed, stepped on and woken abruptly when sleeping, Harvey has come a long way. He tends to be timid, sweet and accommodating unless pushed too far and then, like most dogs, may react in protest.
Harvey has lived with a toddler without incident for years but as he can be defensive around food and does not like being startled we recommend he does not live with kids.
Like most dogs Harvey does not like anything rough or forceful.
3) Ideal Owner
Harvey will fit in easily in most homes as long as his owners are gentle and mindful of a few quirks as mentioned above.
While Harvey prefers company he can cope alone. He is ok for full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as he is a central focus when people are home. We would prefer him to be the only permanent dog in the home as a precaution.
Harvey will not suit homes where people live in very close proximity to each other with small outside areas e.g. villas, units, apartment complexes, terrace houses, strata complexes etc.
As Harvey is people orientated he needs to be part of family activities.
He will not suit homes with residents that are:
- very young, frail, elderly,
- renters or
- time poor.
4) Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Harvey is quiet and rarely makes a sound.
He will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not.
- stay at home parent.
- someone that works from home.
- part time workers.
- full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as Harvey is a central focus when folks are home.
5) Exercise Requirements
Medium - playful and moderately active. While he loves going for walks he also loves play time at home.
6) When ON a lead ...
Is well behaved.
7) When OFF a lead ...
Harvey takes off and won't come back. He has never been off the lead around other dogs.
8) Type of Yard Required
- Medium to large interesting and secure.
- Will dart through an open gate or door and take off.
- Ok with shoulder height fencing.
- Will dig underneath fencing if able.
- May chew and dig if not given enough exercise and/or mental stimulation but can be commanded to stop.

Adoption details
ADOPTION PROCESS (simple and easy)
1. Read the dog's detailed profile thoroughly - for you to self screen
2. The Expression of Interest (EOI) form MUST be completed prior to a meet and greet.
https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
3. Speak to the carer/owner directly for more detailed info to determine if there are any 'deal breakers' - designed to save time and avoid falsely raising hopes.
4. 'Meet & Greet' - you travel to where the dog is. If you have a current dog it must meet too. We strongly recommend all members of the family attend. Both parties may wish to report their thoughts to each other but MUST update Dog Adoption directly too.
5. The dog MUST not be taken on the day unless PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS have been made e.g. travelling more then 2 hrs round trip. In this case we need a minimum of 2 days notice. The adoption agreement and payment must be made before collection of the dog.
6. Normally, both parties have a think about the meeting, and if they wish to proceed, the adoption is completed after the adoption agreement, payment and screening is finalised.
7. A 2 week cooling off period commences once the dog arrives.
