About Brick
1) Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Brick is easy to love and quite a character with his occasional snoring, big smile, and undying optimism for food. His love for people cannot be measured. He loves exploring smells at the park, playing soccer and rolling around in long, damp grass. He will do this over and over again from the top of a hill and work his way down.
Like many staffys, Brick is ok with other dogs in familiar, low traffic areas where everyone is calm but he can react to another exuberant dog rushing into his space. He gets frightened.
While he is fine with kids at the park we recommend a home without young children as he has never lived with any.
2) Ideal Owner
Typical of the breed, Brick will make a loyal and devoted companion due to his love of people.
He needs a calm, relatively quiet environment where he can sun bake in a nice yard.
Brick is ok for full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as he is a central focus when people are home and is exercised twice a day.
Brick needs to be the only permanent dog in the home.
He will not suit homes where people live in very close proximity to each other with small outside areas e.g. villas, units, apartment complexes, terrace houses, strata complexes etc.
As Brick is people orientated he needs to be part of family activities.
He will not suit homes with residents that are:
- very young, frail, elderly,
- renters.
- novice dog owners or
- time poor.
3) Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Will alert to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker.
Brick will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not.
- stay at home parent.
- someone that works from home.
- part time workers.
- empty nesters.
- active retirees.
- full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as he is a central focus when folks are home.
Brick has never been destructive.
4) Exercise Requirements
Medium to high depending on other stimulation throughout the day.
5) When ON a lead ...
He is usually well behaved. May pull initially with someone new or with an unfamiliar person but settles.
6) When OFF a lead ...
His recall is very good but like most dogs he may falter if distracted.
7) Type of Yard Required
Medium to large interesting and secure.
May take advantage of an open gate and wander off but does not usually try and escape.
Ok with shoulder height fencing.
8) Generally
- Anxious with exuberant Dogs. Ok with others
- Not Good With Cats
- Good with Kids + 12 yrs due size
- Toilet Trained
- Size 28 kgs

Adoption details
ADOPTION PROCESS (simple and easy)
1. Read the dog's detailed profile thoroughly - for you to self screen
2. The Expression of Interest (EOI) form MUST be completed prior to a meet and greet.
https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
3. Speak to the carer/owner directly for more detailed info to determine if there are any 'deal breakers' - designed to save time and avoid falsely raising hopes.
4. 'Meet & Greet' - you travel to where the dog is. If you have a current dog it must meet too. We strongly recommend all members of the family attend. Both parties may wish to report their thoughts to each other but MUST update Dog Adoption directly too.
5. The dog MUST not be taken on the day unless PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS have been made e.g. travelling more then 2 hrs round trip. In this case we need a minimum of 2 days notice. The adoption agreement and payment must be made before collection of the dog.
6. Normally, both parties have a think about the meeting, and if they wish to proceed, the adoption is completed after the adoption agreement, payment and screening is finalised.
7. A 2 week cooling off period commences once the dog arrives.
