Shadow's Movie https://youtu.be/7A6iMNHnFDk
1) Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Shadow is a loyal, affectionate and pretty obedient dog. He tends to bond to one person and will 'shadow' his owner around the house and garden, dutifully sitting at their feet or close by. Shadow has some anxiety around other people and dogs and does not like them coming into his space. Too much unwelcome attention may lead to him becoming tense, stiff, growling and then if these warnings are not heeded, a nip.
Shadow is generally a relaxed 'smoochie' dog, at home when his environment is calm and quiet.
Shadow has been very well looked after by his owner in the past.
2) Ideal Owner
A single mature person or couple with a relaxed demeanour that can give Shadow lots of love and walks. Firm but kind.
As Shadow with thrive in a calm, quiet environment he will not suit someone who has a lot of visitors. When strangers visit he will need somewhere he classes as safe to retire too.
Shadow should be ok for full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as he is a central focus when people are home but it is important his new owner understands this has never been tested as he has always lived with another dog.
Shadow needs to be the only permanent dog in the home and be kept on the lead when walking as Shadow can quickly turn from being a relaxed, happy dog to being anxious and unpredictable.
As Shadow is people orientated he needs to be part of family activities.
He will not suit homes with residents that are very young, frail, elderly, renters, novice dog owners or time poor.
3) Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Will alert to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker.
Shadow will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not.
- empty nesters.
- active retirees.
- full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as he is a central focus when folks are home but it is important his new owner understands this has never been tested as he has always lived with another dog.
4) Exercise Requirements
Medium - playful and moderately active. Shadow does become bored if he misses a daily walk.
5) When ON a lead ...
Like most dogs he starts off pulling but settles.
6) When OFF a lead ...
Shadow has never been off the lead because his responsible owners have been cautious. When relaxed he is obedient but when anxious he will stand his ground if challenged by another dog.
7) Type of Yard Required
Medium to large interesting and secure - Shadow will dart through an open gate or door and take off. Ok with shoulder height fencing.
8) General
- Good with Other Dogs but has always been on a lead
- Not Good With Cats
- No Kids
- Toilet Trained
- Size 25 kgs

Adoption details
ADOPTION PROCESS (simple and easy)
1. Read the dog's detailed profile thoroughly - for you to self screen
2. The Expression of Interest (EOI) form MUST be completed prior to a meet and greet.
https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
3. Speak to the carer/owner directly for more detailed info to determine if there are any 'deal breakers' - designed to save time and avoid falsely raising hopes.
4. 'Meet & Greet' - you travel to where the dog is. If you have a current dog it must meet too. We strongly recommend all members of the family attend. Both parties may wish to report their thoughts to each other but MUST update Dog Adoption directly too.
5. The dog MUST not be taken on the day unless PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS have been made e.g. travelling more then 2 hrs round trip. In this case we need a minimum of 2 days notice. The adoption agreement and payment must be made before collection of the dog.
6. Normally, both parties have a think about the meeting, and if they wish to proceed, the adoption is completed after the adoption agreement, payment and screening is finalised.
7. A 2 week cooling off period commences once the dog arrives.
