About Shadow the Black Smoke Tabby.
Shadow petite black smoke tabby
Little Shadow is about 2 years old.
She turned up in my garage and stayed in my garage until I realised she was there. She must slipped through the patterned holes in the brick walls, jumped down to the garage floor (lower than outside ground level) and then couldn't find a way to get out again.
I only realised she was in my garage when I heard her eating from a Dine cat food tray which i usually give to the other community cat each night, but when Gingy walked out and I heard the rustle of the cat food tray, I saw a little shadow of a cat eating hungrily. I then pieced together the signs of her being there by realising the empty trays that I put in the rubbish, were chewed at ( which Gingy doesn't do) and this had been going on for about a week.
Poor little thing was stuck in my garage with little food and no water for about a week. She always hid behind my storage in the garage, so I didn't realise she was there. Once I saw the 'shadow' slip away from my view, I decided to catch her to find out what kind of cat we have here.
Her fur was very scraggly and when I took her in, I weighed her and she was only 2.1kg. That was very underweight for an adult cat, even a petite sized cat.
She has since stayed with me so I fed her high calorie food to put on weight, and she has gained nearly a kilo over a period of 6 weeks.
She also had a nice warm bath to clean her dirty fur and her coat actually looks amazing when wet. She is a smoke tabby, and her fur has pure white roots and then changes to black/charcoal colour at the ends.
She was not microchipped, so no owner could be found. She needed a lot of tender loving care and fattening up, with a warm bed to sleep on, so on cold days and nights, while she stayed in the spare room, she had her own heater running for her comfort.
Shadow is now microchipped, desexed and vaccinated and is looking for a new home.
She loves being patted, cuddled and loves being on your lap.
She's still yet to get used to other cats in the home. Currently keeps to herself, but watches the other cats from a distance. No issues with personality clashes.
For the time being, she will go well with being the only cat in a nice quiet indoor only home, with no loud activity and receiving lots of smooching and pats from her owner.
