About Nala
This is Nala
She's only about two years old and has already had a confusing start to her life, although from her loving behaviour, you wouldn't know it.
Nala and her brother Zephyr were raised by owner in a nearby unit block.
I noticed these two last year as they were free roaming kittens back then , around the busy street I live in.
At night, they waited outside the unit where they grew up for their owner to come home and feed them.
Quite often I gave them food as they followed me wanting me to feed them.
I tried to find out who owned them as I knew they needed to be desexed, but my attempts to contact her - leaving a number for her to call me - were unsuccessful
I got them desexed anyway and returned them to the units they hung around and left a letter in the owners letterbox so she knew they got desexed and vaccinated
I always saw them running around in the back yard of the neighbouring unit blocks opposite my living room.
Anyway, a few months ago, I discovered that another lady called Violet ( who I helped with desexing her cats) was leaving food for Nala and Zephyr
I went to the unit block where Nala's owner lived and discovered that the owner moved out and left the two cats behind. So of course, the cats had to find food from another source.
About a month later, I came home late one night to see a dead squashed cat on the road ( corner of my street and the extremely busy road it joins)
It was Nala's brother Zephyr
You can see how busy this street is in the video.

The cars are non stop. And recently a schoolboy was also killed by a truck when he tried to cross the road.
Recently, we found a lady who has offered to foster Nala as an indoor only cat and so Nala has been staying with the lady in Katoomba.
She wasn't used to the car ride as we drove 90 min, but once we got her inside her foster home, Nala adjusted very well.
She had a bit of food and we let her explore a bit. She darted under the couch or bed but emerged 10 sec later for pats and scritches.
Her foster carer has given me updates and photos of Nala enjoying her sleep on a nice soft bed exclusively for her and told me it looks like Nala can't believe how soft her sleeping quarters are - as she was used to sleeping outdoors on the grass - following the sun.
Nala has also used her litter tray properly and made no accidents around the home.
For a cat used to living outdoors, she has adjusted very well to indoor life.
Nala's foster carer is enjoying looking after this friendly girl as she really is a delightful affectionate cat that loves pats.
We are looking for someone to adopt her and give her a permanent home - indoor only - to save her from the same fate that her brother died from.
