About Dudley
See Dudley's Movie https://youtu.be/D9GrEfpCHok
Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Dudley is good with dogs, active, playful, outdoorsey, loves people, is great company and a wonderful jogging buddy.
Dudley is usually gentle, warm and affectionate - a wonderful companion as he will follow his owner around all day. However, he is not needy. He will really connect with his owner by looking deep into your eyes.
Dudley is a bit of a playful goof ball at times and can get over excited - jumping up and getting under your feet - especially at meal times. This is why we recommend any kids be teenagers or older. This should improve with a routine, regular exercise and mental stimulation.
Dudley is good around food.
Dudley can take time to warm to some strangers and will be wary until he is sure they are ok.
He doesn't like thunder storms or fireworks but can tolerate them if he has human company.
Above all Dudley loves people and being near people.
Ideal Owner
Dudley has not had much attention or focus from his owner lately but despite this is pretty well behaved. With some training and consistency from his new owner Dudley will thrive.
He would like someone home more often than not but can cope alone if he has another friendly dog for company.
As Dudley is people orientated he needs to be part of family activities.
He will not suit homes with residents that are very young, frail, elderly, renters or time poor.
Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Will alert to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker - can be commanded to stop.
He will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not,
- someone that works from home,
- part time workers,
- empty nesters,
- full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as he is a central focus when people are home and he has another friendly dog for company.
Anxious early on but settles during the day.
Exercise Requirements
Medium to high - enjoys daily outings. He will often keep himself amused by jumping at birds in the back yard or running around like a lunatic. He will run for ages and will make a great jogging buddy.
When ON a lead ...
Needs some work on lead as he tends to pull until he tires. A halti harness is recommended.
When OFF a lead ...
Dudley's recall is good but has lapses. If at a dog park he generally stays close however, if at the beach he likes to socialise with other dogs and then run off into the distance.
Type of Yard Required
Medium to large interesting and secure or even acreage.
Requires 6' (2 meter) high fencing right to the ground so he can't dig underneath. As he will use foot holds to climb e.g. trellis, wire etc the fencing should be clear. He only tries to escape if alone or has not had exercise.

Adoption details
ADOPTION PROCESS (simple and easy)
1. Read the dog's detailed profile thoroughly - for you to self screen
2. The Expression of Interest (EOI) form MUST be completed prior to a meet and greet.
https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
3. Speak to the carer/owner directly for more detailed info to determine if there are any 'deal breakers' - designed to save time and avoid falsely raising hopes.
4. 'Meet & Greet' - you travel to where the dog is. If you have a current dog it must meet too. We strongly recommend all members of the family attend. Both parties may wish to report their thoughts to each other but MUST update Dog Adoption directly too.
5. The dog MUST not be taken on the day unless PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS have been made e.g. travelling more then 2 hrs round trip. In this case we need a minimum of 2 days notice. The adoption agreement and payment must be made before collection of the dog.
6. Normally, both parties have a think about the meeting, and if they wish to proceed, the adoption is completed after the adoption agreement, payment and screening is finalised.
7. A 2 week cooling off period commences once the dog arrives.
