About Monte
Hi! My name is Monte and I just want to play. I love to play all day with doggy friends or a ball. I love to stalk, chase and wrestle. I’m a very smart boy and have working-line smarts/energy. I aim to please, but I am still learning about some things to do with suburban-living. I’m a teenager, so I am independent but sometimes I need guidance.
Monte is around two years old and is a rangy, large kelpie. He is a friendly boy and enjoys the company of both dogs & people alike. Monte has his basic obedience down pat, but continues to need someone who can be firm, patient and consistent with his ongoing necessary training. He is an extremely intelligent dog and learns very quickly if his lessons are firm and consistent. He is motivated by play more so than food. It is evident that Monte is a well bred kelpie and he would likely excel at herding, flyball or agility, with the right owner.
Monte lives in a foster environment with a male and a female dog. He is quite boisterous in his play style and can be a little intimidating for some dogs. He is easily redirected and respectful, once warned though. He loves children and enjoys the company of the 3 year old who lives in his foster home. He is quite gentle with her and does not jump up. He loves to follow her around and plays fetch with her.
This boy is nearing adulthood and needs an owner who understands & appreciates all that you get from an extremely intelligent, active and independent working line kelpie. He’s got a lot of potential to be an excellent family dog, with the right home environment.
Adoption details
Please go to our website to complete an adoption application form for this dog. www.soulmates4lifedogrescue.com.au/adopt/apply
Filling out an adoption application does not commit you to adopting a dog.
Once we receive your application we will put you in contact with the dog's foster carer to have a chat about the dog and whether it is the right fit for your family. The carer will then arrange a meet and greet with you and your potential new dog.
A volunteer from our rescue will also contact you to arrange a home inspection to make sure the home and yard is safe and secure. If all goes well, the dog will go on a 21 day trial to make sure that they dog fits into your lifestyle. And then you will live happily furever after.
Please note that there is no trial period for puppies, only for adult dogs over the age of 6 months.
