About Lincoln
2 year old Lincoln has had a rough start to his life, there is no sugar coating things here. But he has been doing well in the month he has been in foster care. We have engaged a trainer to assist Lincoln become familiar with small things and he is showing improvement. However he has a long way to go, and we feel that he now needs his furever family to continue to show him the love and commitment he so richly deserves.
Lincoln is currently living with other retrievers and a smaller dog and gets on with them all.
Lincoln is being walked on a harness and loves going to the beach, he enjoys paddling in the water and just sniffing around as all doggies do! Lincoln is okay with other dogs, after a slow introduction, then he is very interested in playing. He enjoys his rope toys and loves playing ball with his hoomans. He has dug a couple of holes at his foster home, not to escape, just to lie in!
There are a few things that Lincoln is wary of. The hose is one of them. He does have a fear for that, and as such bath time does not happen with a hose!. However, we are bathing him with a watering can and facecloth and he is doing well. So if we have to compromise, so be it, no big deal! He is improving each week. We are continually trying to desensitise him to things that he is afraid of. He is anxious of buses and large trucks. This is because he has never been exposed to them.
Lincoln just wants to please his family and be loved. We know with the right environment, Lincoln will continue to feel safe as he does with his foster family. At the moment Lincoln is on medication to help with his anxiety.
Lincoln is house trained and sleeps well through the night. He will get up when you do and follow you wherever you are going!
Prior to completing an Expression of Interest Form for Lincoln, please be aware and understand the type of environment that we are seeking for Lincoln due to his past life. There can be no cats in residence. Lincoln will require 2 metre (6 foot) secure fencing. Lincoln requires a stable safe family life with consistency and compassion. Lincoln is best not suited to young children at this time. Lincoln would love another dog to rumble with at his furever home. He will need continual training to help him become the best relaxed doggie he can be. His new family will need patience. Golden Paws Rescue will help as much as we can.
Lincoln has been desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm and intestinal wormed, flea and tick treated, and his adoption fee is $550. Lincoln is being fostered in Hervey Bay.
Lincoln is currently being fostered in Hervey Bay and he is available for adoption only in the Brisbane area, Sunshine Coast and Fraser Coast region. He is not available for adoption interstate or overseas.
