Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Loves attention, lounging around and spending time with his owner but is not playful or treat motivated.
Rocky is frightened of thunderstorms and fireworks. Rocky does not like being confined in small spaces including small rooms or small yards. He likes a routine, is good company and very smart.
Ideal Owner
Someone home more often than not looking for a loyal companion.
As Rocky is people orientated he needs to be part of family activities.
He will not suit homes with residents that are very young, frail, elderly, renters or time poor.
Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Will alert to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker. Will also bark if bored and alone.
He will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not,
- stay at home parent,
- empty nesters,
- active retirees.
Rocky prefers company but can cope alone if you have to pop out on an errand.
When ON a lead ...
Like most dogs he starts off pulling but settles. He walks well on a short lead. Rocky is strong.
Type of Yard Required
Medium to large interesting and secure. Rocky may wander off if a gate or door is inadvertently left open and won't come back.
Exercise Requirements
Low - short strolls or playtime at home.
When OFF a lead ...

______________________________________
We strongly recommend you read the profile carefully where everything we know about the dog/s is outlined.
If you are interested in a dog we invite you to submit an application form so we can learn more about your circumstances. This is to ensure we match the right dog to the best home. (one form per family - not per dog) https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
This is for the benefit of both the dog and the potential new owner(s). It also saves time and uses limited resources more effectively.
Once the essential criteria is confirmed we put you in touch with the carer for a more detailed chat with a view of meeting the dog(s).
If you decide to proceed with the adoption we make a time for a house check.
The adoption fee is then paid (there is a 2 week cooling off period.) Please note we offer a 2 week cooling off period but do not usually allow trials. See here for the difference https://www.dogadoption.org.au/can-my-dogs-new-owner-have-a-trial-period-before-deciding-to-adopt.html
Foster carers are also able to adopt foster dogs once approved.
