About Foxy (& Ned)
Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Both will alert to something strange but are not currently nuisance barkers.
Ned and Foxy will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not,
- stay at home parent,
- someone that works from home,
- part time workers,
- empty nesters,
- active retirees,
- full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as the dogs are a central focus when home,
- full time workers (9am-5pm) as long the dogs have another friendly permanent dog for company (if separated).
They are fine without people during the day as long as they have each other.
Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Both dogs are very easily pleased and low-maintenance. They will make wonderful companions for 'dog focused' owners and are sweet and gentle around kids.
Both dogs have their endearing quirks. Ned likes to do 'number 2s'' on the concrete if it's raining (bit of a princess) and doesn't like getting his feet wet. Foxy, who is normally sweet and gentle, can be bossy around smaller dogs and the cats.
They like being inside during thunderstorms. They can sometimes take time to warm to new people but this nervousness eases after a few days.
They currently live with cats but they are always kept separated.
Ideal Owner
An active family with no other dogs looking for a warm, affectionate and fun loving pair would be a great match for this duo. They enjoy plenty of space, visits to the beach and bush adventures.
They are ok for full time workers (9am-5pm) as long as they are a central focus when people are home.
As the dogs are people orientated they need to be part of family activities.
They will not suit homes with residents that are very young, frail, elderly, renters or time poor.
Exercise Requirements
Medium - playful and moderately active (can miss a daily walk). They obviously love as much attention as they can get but won't complain if their family are busy from time to time.
When ON a lead ...
Well behaved.
When OFF a lead ...
Both love a good run and are playful and fun loving, especially with each other.
They are accustomed to having the freedom of beaches or open space parks and if supervised are not usually a problem, returning when called.
Type of Yard Required
Large suburban block or semi rural property that is interesting and secure. They are not destructive or escape artists.
Good with Other Dogs except Foxy is dominant around smaller dogs
Lives with cats but kept separated and don't interact
Good with Kids + 7 yrs
Toilet Trained
Size 40 | 23 kgs

______________________________________
We strongly recommend you read the profile carefully where everything we know about the dog/s is outlined.
If you are interested in a dog we invite you to submit an application form so we can learn more about your circumstances. This is to ensure we match the right dog to the best home. (one form per family - not per dog) https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
This is for the benefit of both the dog and the potential new owner(s). It also saves time and uses limited resources more effectively.
Once the essential criteria is confirmed we put you in touch with the carer for a more detailed chat with a view of meeting the dog(s).
If you decide to proceed with the adoption we make a time for a house check.
The adoption fee is then paid (there is a 2 week cooling off period.) Please note we offer a 2 week cooling off period but do not usually allow trials. See here for the difference https://www.dogadoption.org.au/can-my-dogs-new-owner-have-a-trial-period-before-deciding-to-adopt.html
Foster carers are also able to adopt foster dogs once approved.
