About Rocky (& Max)
Devoted pair - Rocky has the white patches and Max is red.
Ideal Owner
People regularly fall in love with the dogs and receive frequent comments about how cute they are.
Their new owners needs to be relatively active and able to handle two strong dogs at once while walking. They will also need to be affectionate and doggy focused.
As the dogs are people orientated they need to be part of family activities.
They will not suit homes with residents that are very young, frail, elderly, renters, full time workers or time poor.
Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
They are usually quiet and rarely make a sound.
Will alert to something strange but are not currently a nuisance barkers.
They will suit any of the following:
- someone home more often than not,
- stay at home parent,
- someone that works from home,
- part time workers,
- empty nesters,
- active retirees.
When it comes to being without people they prefer company but can cope alone.
Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments and Quirks
Rocky and Max are excitable around other dogs and new friends may not understand this eagerness to play. Hence, their responsible owners only let one off the lead at a time so no one is overwhelmed.
Max - loyal, affectionate and good at alerting to strange noises. He is a little less 'needy' when it comes to cuddles but is still a loving, dependable little shadow.
Rocky - is a very happy go lucky boy. Sweet natured and enjoys cuddling up closely to get warm. He loves going for walks and knows when it is time - as soon as the jacket goes on he spins in little circles with excitment.
Both love the water (beach, river etc), fetching balls, eating bones, eating in general, drives in the car and playing with the hose. They dislike people raising their voices, being left alone for extended periods of time, temperature extremes and boredom.
Exercise Requirements
Medium - playful and moderately active (can miss a daily walk).
When ON a lead ...
They are easy to walk and are obedient unless distracted - which is normal.
When OFF a lead ...
Sometimes good and sometimes bad - they usually stay close by but can get distracted by other dogs.
Type of Yard Required
Medium to large interesting and secure.
Good with Other Dogs
Not Good with Cats

______________________________________
We strongly recommend you read the profile carefully where everything we know about the dog/s is outlined.
If you are interested in a dog we invite you to submit an application form so we can learn more about your circumstances. This is to ensure we match the right dog to the best home. (one form per family - not per dog) https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
This is for the benefit of both the dog and the potential new owner(s). It also saves time and uses limited resources more effectively.
Once the essential criteria is confirmed we put you in touch with the carer for a more detailed chat with a view of meeting the dog(s).
If you decide to proceed with the adoption we make a time for a house check.
The adoption fee is then paid (there is a 2 week cooling off period.) Please note we offer a 2 week cooling off period but do not usually allow trials. See here for the difference https://www.dogadoption.org.au/can-my-dogs-new-owner-have-a-trial-period-before-deciding-to-adopt.html
Foster carers are also able to adopt foster dogs once approved.
