About Luka
ON HOLD - Adoption closed.
Luka is an 8 year old pure bred miniature poodle hoping for a mum or dad who stays at home a lot of the time and would enjoy a little walk daily or cafe/lunch/social times with you. He has a very gentle, sweet, loving and patient nature, once he gets to know and trust you (meaning he can be a bit stand offish at first) and just LOVES cuddles and to be with his special human. He does bond VERY easily and quickly. Luka LOVES being in the car and is learning not to jump around IN the car and sit calmly. A car harness / doggy crate would be helpful for him at the moment.
YOU would be willing to continue with his current training (either with myself or with a recommended trainer who uses the same methods as me) as he is still learning to be a GREAT dog, and not to whinge when left alone.....he is doing swell on this learning curve presently. You will also get a 3 hour training "hand - over" session with me included in the adoption price.
Currently he is learning to sleep calmly in a doggie crate at night and is learning some basic obedience (sit, drop, on your bed, recall to name), good behaviour and manners. He is so willing to please and is coming along ever so well.
Luka had some dental work done recently and so we ask that you maintain a fresh raw food diet with high quality grain free kibble and raw meaty bones to ensure his teeth are maintained. We only feed raw here so hopefully you will wish to continue that and we can provide you with a full dietary sheet upon adoption, including a list of wholesale suppliers (most of whom will deliver to your door).
Luka is desexed , microchipped, vaccinated and wormed, and will have a fresh groom.
Please note - important to read medical notes.
Medical notes
Luka had a broken paw in his younger days which was pinned. As he is now older it is suspected that he has some arthritis in that area as he will limp occasionally if he has been over active or had a long walk. However sometimes he limps when he is feeling anxious so we are working on that with confidence building exercises.
Luka will ideally require 3 monthly cartrophen injections to assist with comfort as well as a natural raw food diet to assist with optimum health. I also recommend tumeric paste which you can make yourself and is great for assisting in arthritis and a bunch of other things...Its fantastic stuff :)
He is still a fairly active dog but care and consideration is needed with his activities. Therefore a quieter home life would be great. He gets on well with other well mannered, trained, calm dogs. If you have another dog already, you will need to be willing to me to do a behavioural assessment prior to adoption. As mentioned you will need to be prepared to be consistent with ongoing training. For this reason Luka will need to be rehomed in Victoria and will not be available for interstate adoption.
