About Bowie - 15 mths old
Ideal Owner
Being a Kelpi cross she needs a large outdoor space where she can be active and also have mental stimulation - otherwise she tends to chew (to be expected of a young dog). Acreage would be even better. She needs the company of adults and/or other dogs during the day. She barks to alert but can be commanded to stop and is likely to improve when she has K9 or human company.
With a little training Bowie will be a gem.
She is not suited in homes with residents that are very young, frail, elderly, renters or time poor.
Likes, Dislikes, Fears, Endearments or Quirks
Bowie is affectionate, friendly, outgoing, very smart, easy to train, funny and loyal. She does not like hail storms, loud noises or being left alone. She loves to lick you all over and has a beautiful disposition.
Exercise Requirements
High - will run and run, cannot miss a day. Great jogging buddy.
When ON a lead ...
Excitable. May pull a small child over.
When OFF a lead ...
Bowie's recall needs work - easily distracted.
Type of Yard Required
She may wander off if a gate is left open but normal shoulder height fencing is fine. She needs a secure medium to large interesting yard or acreage.
Tolerance to Being Alone During the Day
Needs companionship of adults or if you work full time, another dog.
Size 16 kgs
Good with Other Dogs - friendly and at times over exuberant.
Not Good with Cats
Good with Kids + 7 yrs (still jumps up when excited)
Toilet Trained
Located Ferntree Gully VIC 3156

______________________________________
We strongly recommend you read the profile carefully where everything we know about the dog/s is outlined.
If you are interested in a dog we invite you to submit an application form so we can learn more about your circumstances. This is to ensure we match the right dog to the best home. (one form per family - not per dog) https://www.dogadoption.org.au/expression-of-interest---adoption.html
This is for the benefit of both the dog and the potential new owner(s). It also saves time and uses limited resources more effectively.
Once the essential criteria is confirmed we put you in touch with the carer for a more detailed chat with a view of meeting the dog(s).
If you decide to proceed with the adoption we make a time for a house check.
The adoption fee is then paid (there is a 2 week cooling off period.) Please note we offer a 2 week cooling off period but do not usually allow trials. See here for the difference https://www.dogadoption.org.au/can-my-dogs-new-owner-have-a-trial-period-before-deciding-to-adopt.html
Foster carers are also able to adopt foster dogs once approved.
