About Arna (and Elsa)
Sweet Arna is a small but mighty kitty who is super affectionate, giving nose kisses to those humans who accept her lap cuddles (lap cuddles are non-negotiable by the way!).
Growing up with her sister Elsa (yes, these girls are Disney princesses), and many other adult cats, Arna gets along well with most other felines and is even tolerable of small older, calm dogs. Once, the Maltese’s were permitted to reside a few rare nights with her royal highness!
Arna loves nothing more than to sit on your lap and cuddle for the next few hours - best you go to the loo before this happens! When she’s not curling up on her human cushion, she can be found playing with her sister or right by her food bowl. Arna is a big fan of BBQ chicken and tuna, and if breakfast/lunch/dinner are even a minute late, she will be sure to let you know.
As a playful and active kitten, Arna loves her little felt mice and feathers/string/toys that are attached to a play-wands. This brings a fantastic opportunity for her new family to interact with her, and for kids to get some one-on-one time with their newest little kitties!
The ideal home for Arna and her sister Elsa would be one where they would be able to move in together! Daily playtime is a must for the girls (they told us to write this), and a family that can provide lots of cuddles would be perfect. Full-time workers would be fine, as long as they can fit in an evening play session and lots of cuddles after work! A home with either no dogs or small quiet dogs would be best.
Even though she's only a few months old, Arna has actually undergone heart surgery (please see medical notes below). Although no ongoing treatment or future complications are expected, it's encouraged that the new family obtains pet insurance for the girls.

Medical notes
At eight weeks of age, Arna underwent a contrast study and was diagnosed with a persistent right aortic arch. This is a very rare congenital abnormality of a blood vessel in the heart which wraps around the oesophagus (the tube that carries food from the mouth to the stomach). The abnormal blood vessel puts pressure on the oesophagus preventing the normal passage of food into the stomach causing regurgitation. The surgery to correct the condition is risky and needs to be performed by a specialist surgeon.
Thanks to Dr Sarah Goldsmid and the Animal Referral Hospital offering Little Paws Orphan Rescue a significant discount, a CT scan of Arna's chest was able to be performed so the exact location of the heart vessel affecting her oesophagus was able to be located. Arna underwent heart surgery to clip the vessel 30th May. Her recovery has been remarkable and proves what a little fighter she is. She doesn't require any further treatment.
We are still fundraising to cover the cost of Arna's CT scan and surgery. Until we are able to cover these costs we are unable to rescue anymore kitties in need. We are asking for support from our followers. We sincerely appreciate any contributions: https://www.gofundme.com/arnaheartsurgery
Adoption details
Before Adoption:
Before adopting a new pet, ensure all family members understand that a pet is an emotional and financial commitment that you need to be prepared to love, house and keep safe for the next 15 to 20 years. This means premium nutrition, preventative health care, regular veterinary check-ups and keeping them inside or only having access to a cat proof area or yard. Pet insurance with accident and illness cover gives you piece of mind knowing your pet can get the veterinary care they may need and you don’t have to worry about the expense.
Next step is to organise a meet and greet. Depending on your location, we bring the feline/s to you or you can come and visit the orphanage. There is sometimes a 24hour wait from the meet and greet to collecting your new family member so everyone has a night to think things over and so you have a chance to get your home prepared. If all goes well and everyone is happy, the adoption paperwork is signed and you collect your new family member.
All adoptions are subject to a two week settling in period. If it turns out your new addition is not quiet the perfect match, you are welcome to return them. The adoption fee is refunded in full if the kitten/cat is returned within the two week settling in period.
All adoptions come with an adoption pack which contains all their certificates and paperwork, information on preventative health care, diet, pet insurance and potential toxins/poisons around the home.
