About Dee
Dee is just a ripper dog. A smaller sized kelpie with a big personality!
Dee is an entertainer and loves meeting new folk! He wiggles his body around in excitement and smiles up at visitors, willing them to greet him. He relishes attention, and when his humans sit with him outside, he wriggles his front paws up onto your lap for a cuddle. Sometimes trying to give your face kisses! He happily wants to join you when there is a chore to be done or some kind of going on, and enthusiastically jumps in the ute tray if an outing is on the cards.
Dee gets along famously with his kelpie foster siblings. He adores playtime - wrestling on the grass and zooming as fast as he can around the paddocks with his foster brother. Dee shows some spectacular form in a ball or frisbee game. Chasing down the ball or frisbee and leaping to catch it in mid-air. True to his cheeky nature, if he is successful, Dee then potters around with the toy in his mouth, driving his ball mad kelpie foster sister wild, as he nonchalantly lies in a shady spot not quite bringing the ball back to the humans to throw it again! Dee can be a little possessive, and would steal a bone or possibly someone’s dinner if his humans weren’t around to remind him of his manners.
Dee has a zest for life and a curious nature. He is a joker at heart with a glint in his eye. He would be content as an only dog or with an older doggie friend as a mentor. He will need a home that can offer companionship and a commitment to training, to keep his clever mind engaged. Dee learns quickly with consistent clear boundaries. He sits and waits for his dinner, and generally sits on command. With the odd reminder he walks well on the lead. Although he hasn’t learnt to heel, Dee follows you around the property readily, and comes when he is called (most of the time!). He sleeps soundly on the deck or in his kennel at night. When the weather is not good he will come inside and curl up on a mat.
Dee shows a keen interest in livestock. He would most likely make a worker with training. Although Dee would be just as happy as a pet, in the right home. He behaves around the horses, and enjoys coming riding, although he does need a reminder to stay out away from them at feed time and when he thinks he might “help” keep them in line. Dee does not harm the chooks, although if left to his own devices to often, he may hassle them for fun. Dee can be a bit rambunctious at times, but otherwise is good with humans of every age. Although he enjoys a good dose of adventure, Dee happily settles down when you’re in the workshop or it’s time to have a snooze on the deck. He does like to lie watching the wide open space and feeling the breeze quiver his only half up-right ears!
Dee is a country boy at heart and the rural life suits him well. Dee is fostered on acreage with only farm fencing and doesn’t wander when his humans are home. If left home in the secure dog yard from time to time, with a bone or with a friend to play with, he doesn’t bark. Although the greeting on your return tells you his happiness at seeing you!
Dee is simply a great dog. He will do best with human(s) that have time to spend with him, and he will reward your commitment by being a truly magnificent mate and well... being just a ripper dog!
