Pocket arrived in Kayas Missions care several months ago from a large Victorian shelter. Pocket was previously used for breeding on a large scale puppy farm and as result finds it difficult to trust new people in her life.
Pocket would be suited to a home either as a sole pet or with one other confident dog. If she was to rehomed with an existing dog this dog would need to calm, not boisterous, of a similar breed and size and not Pockets space continually as she enjoys her own time out. Pocket is not suited to a home with a resident cat as she will try to nip cats around her.
Pocket is not suited to a home with children under the age of 12 years as she finds small children intimidating and will bark at them.
We are seeking a person who is home more often than not, ideally retired or working part time. Pocket would benefit from her new owner having knowledge of her breed and / or rescue dogs and their behaviours. The successful applicant will also need to have patience and understanding of Pockets past and how to create a safe and loving environment for her.
Pocket has a grade 2 patella luxation which has been assessed by a vet and is not considered to required surgery at this point. It is important for the new owner to be aware of the inportance of Pocket remaining at a healthy weight to ensure that this does not impact or worsen the luxation.
Due to her past Pocket had significant dental disease resulting in all bar 3 of her teeth being removed. This causes her no issues with eating.
Once the dogs are ready for adoption a detailed description is placed on PetRescue and potential adoptees can make contact with us phone number listed.
We discuss with people what they can offer the dogs and try to match them with most suitable homes.
