About Max
Meet Max, an adorable 7yr old red stumpy tail cattle dog. He is a patient, loyal and very loving dog who would happily sit next to you all day long. He will be your best mate. He knows his manners, sit, wait, lie down, on your bed. He will sit and wait for his food until you tell him to eat. He is very affectionate. He loves his cuddles, and the belly rub is his favourite.
Max has grown up with a lab and was very close to his older fur-brother who has since passed away. Max is fine with other dogs but likes his space. He'd prefer to hang out with his humans than spend time around other dogs. We think he'd be happier being an only dog.
Max has a lot of life left in him and would love a family that has time to play, go for walks and include him in their daily routine. When off leash, Max comes when you call him but if he was to see a hare or a bird it could be much too tempting to ignore you. So until he’s a little better trained, he’s probably best kept on a lead when out walking. He walks well on the lead but would need an adult to walk him. He can get excited and suddenly pull when he smells a good smell or sees another dog on a lead. But after walking past calmly he soon calms down and is perfect.
Max absolutely loves human attention. He is great with kids - young and old. He has been around 2, 4 and 8-year olds with no problem at all. He’s been on a diet and with extra exercise is doing very well. Barking is minimal. I don’t think I’ve even heard him bark. No noise ever at night. He sleeps inside on his bed until morning.
Max took no time at all to settle in his foster-home with my family. Knowing you are there makes him feel safe; cuddles make him happy and he will show you so much love in return.
Max is is not good with cats, chooks and small animals (guinea pigs) but that’s his instinct as a cattle dog. Max has been an outside dog all his life; he has learned his inside manners, sleeping on the floor or having a cuddle on the couch if you allow it. He is toilet trained. Max is an intelligent dog and is eager to please.
Max would suit a family that won’t mind him to be near them as much as he possibly can; to be his best mate. A family that has the time for walks, play and of course cuddles. He would prefer someone to be home as much as possible. Max will reward your family with love, loyalty, laughs and fun times.
Adoption details
Please go to the website http://www.rescuealabrador.com/
to submit an adoption application. Please click on the adopt a dog link on the left hand side of the screen and complete the questions if you are interested in adopting aLabrador.
We will not discuss specific dogs with you until you have completed this questionnaire as this allows us to establish which dogs are potential matches for your lifestyle.
Once we have found a suitable match to your family, we will allow you to contact the appropriate foster carer who will discuss the dog in more detail with you.
Once you are both satisfied that this is a good match you will be able to meet the Lab. If all goes well, you will be able to take the dog on a 2 week trial. You will complete the adoption paperwork and pay the adoption fee at this stage.
At the end of the 2 week trial you will be able to adopt the Lab and we will submit the microchip transfer to the council.
