The Playful Pup!
Large Female Greyhound Dog

Molly is a special rescue case from the APY lands where female greyhound dogs are often abandoned at birth (the males are used for hunting kangaroos). Molly spent the first 8 weeks of her life mostly on her own scavenging to survive. When she was found she was underweight and in desperate need of a home.
Molly completed a puppy school from 20 weeks - 26 weeks, which was a little late for normal pups but it hasn't held her back at all. Like all pups Molly is very food motivated. She has learnt sit, drop and stay with hand signals and vocal commands with small food rewards. She'll also wait to eat her food until we give her release word which is 'yip yip'. Molly's no word is 'uh-uh' which she sometimes hears and sometimes pretends not to. Molly generally sleeps during most of the day and through the night, and likes to have a big walk and play in the early evening. She's a sweet dog but due to her rough early start in life, she does need a lot of love and attention. Molly definitely likes to feel involved when she is in a room of people and needs a lot of pats, belly scratches and attention if she feels lonely or ignored.
Molly would greatly benefit from a canine pal to help show her the ways of being a dog. She's still quite excitable with other dogs, but if she is getting too excited she will respond to 'leave it, come on' with a treat. Molly would prefer a home without cats.
