Pick Me, Pick Me!!!
Medium Female Australian Bulldog Dog

Beautiful Sage came to us when she was about 4 months old. She had ended back at her breeders which was a good thing as her first home was far from ideal. She suffered some physical abuse as well as she over heated after being left out on a hot day to the point she had a heat related seizure. I’m unsure if Sage is the way she is because of a bad beginning or it’s just who she is but she has been with us around 12 months to get her healthy, to ensure the seizure was a once off but mainly due to some behavioural issues. Most of the time Sage is a regular happy pup, she loves toys, is mainly great playing with other dogs, she is super intelligent and learns so fast. She has an abundance of pride when showing off what she has learnt and if she had a tail then it would be wagging with joy. She has no great fears, doesn’t react to thunder, does bark excessively and she is excellent at listening now. Her family will need a good understanding of dogs, they need to be able to take and trust our advice on training and have the perfect balance of tough love while she is still in her prime learning period. She is a cheeky adolescent and if she can she will push the boundaries everyday until she gets her way and if that is the case it could end in disaster. She LOVES her food so reward training with treats will get her attention all day, she just cant get enough of it.
In order to find Sage a home we have some non-negotiable ‘musts’ her new family/home. Sage can also be like an annoying little sister, I know all of you dog lovers are thinking that is all because of her age however there is a little more to it. She can lose her temper quite fast and if there is a fight she is the first to jump in. Her new home will
- Have no other pets (and no plans to get another)
- Not leave her for long periods of time
- Commit to her training and pursue regular professional training
- Have no one younger than teen’s living full time in their home
- Keep her fit, healthy and I will repeat that she needs that perfect balance of tough love but
mainly the love. It’s imperative she keeps within her healthy weight range.
- She needs to keep cool I summer and warm in winter with 24/7 indoor/outdoor access. Air con in home and car is very important.
She is out of her chewing, crazy, super silly puppy period but she still jumps when she gets excited and will knock over small children in one bound. She’s a small Aussie (13kg’s) and won’t get any taller but her enthusiasm can be a force to be reasoned with when she’s razzed up. So, we are looking for those rare dog wise people that don’t own a dog, but we will wait, as we do with all of our dogs until the perfect home comes along and they will be one lucky family indeed.
If you are reading this then Sage is still looking, we keep all of dogs up to date so we look forward to hearing all about you and why you think our Sagie will be a good fit.
Best of luck looking for your rescue dog!
Sage will go to her new home a healthy, happy 1 year old. She was in our care from puppy for a few reasons one being retraining some bad behavior but the second was to ensure we were on top of any health issues. Sage couldn't move her back end until she was 6 weeks old, that includes walking so we needed to make sure her spine and discs were not going to give her any issues and we haven't had any problems in 12 months and all scans have come back normal. We know that anyone with common sense understands that anything can go wrong at anytime with dogs but we wanted to add this to her profile because there may or may not be issues if she is over exercised or may give her grief in her senior years so her home needs to be able to give her the care she needs. This may lead to expensive scans at the worst but more likely a trip to the vets and some rest. Her skin can flare up at times, she get itchy and if you are not straight onto it she will itch herself into a bloody mess. Her family will have access to her full vet records which will include instructions on how to easily clear this up.
