Look over there! Is it a bear? Is it a dog? No, it’s Panda-Girl!
Cuter than a baby koala. More mischief than a toddler with a packet of Tim Tams. Able to melt the heart of the most committed of ‘cat people’. Yes, it’s Panda-Girl, the sweet and sassy new arrival who came to pet life with powers and abilities far beyond those of regular dogs. Panda-Girl, who can thieve and hoard door stoppers, random kitchen items and your favourite lip gloss completely undetected; hear the opening of the kibble bag and smell dinner through three double brick walls; and coax a pat from even the crankiest of local pedestrians with one bat of her big brown eyes.
Dedicated to the relentless pursuit of ear scratches, squeaky toys, and a really comfy couch, Panda-Girl is happiest when close to her people (both big and little) and her greyhound foster brother. Having confronted too many shady female types in the course of her super-hound duties, she’s insistent that her new side-kick is of the patient and placid male variety. Cats, possums and roos are high on her list of arch enemies, though her tolerance in the face of small fluffy canines remains untested.
While couch surfing and long arvo naps are among her preferred pastimes, Panda-Girl is inquisitive by nature and loves to explore. Ideally, her new digs will have at least a small yard in which to exercise her super powers, but if Superman can change in a phone booth, she reckons a full-time greyhound mate and regular enrichment activities could make apartment living workable.
Roast chicken is her kryptonite – one whiff and she’s putty in your hands. Clever employment of this tactic has her waiting patiently at meal times and learning that her bed is a safe and welcoming space to throw off her cape and relax. While increasingly chilled on the lead, containing her excitement (read: continuous jumping and bunting) before walk time needs a little more work. But, hey, Superman didn’t just up and fly without incident!
Though not unique to Panda-Girl or greyhounds in general, her greatest super-power is the love she’s longing to lavish on her new family. The plucky, pettable and oh so pretty Panda is now ready for adoption and eagerly awaiting her forever home.
