About Lorna & Pearl
Pearl (little white leghorn) is an ex-battery hen. Pearl is a little bit nervous about people but is very attached to Lorna. Lorna is a silkie bantam hen who was rescued by the roadside needing extensive surgery post a suspected dog attack. Lorna is now very healthy and well and is a very friendly and interactive chicken. Both girls are extremely close and spend all of their time together - Pearl even sits with Lorna in her nest box whenever she lays eggs! They need to go to a loving home where people will be committed to their wellbeing and safety. Both girls are very small and they need protection from foxes and predators.
These two ladies are needing a home together. $60 for both.
Medical notes
Pearl has had a hysterectomy and requires a hormone implant each year.
Adoption details
As we are not a shelter but a rescue organisation all animals are in independent foster homes. We do not have a centralised location for people to come to and view the animals.
Any interest in received via an adoption application or expression of interest form. If the application matches the needs of the particular animal then that person will be contacted and the animal then taken to their home for a meet and greet.
Some animals will receive more than one applications so things can take a little longer than we'd like as we are a volunteer based organisation with limited resources.
Our process is put together for a particular reason and it won't suit everyone. We have seen where these animals have ended up and don't want to see that happen again. Maybe if there was a more thorough process less animals would end up in the pounds.
