Generally.
Juno is a lot of fun in the outdoors but also a loyal and devoted companion at home.

She will keep herself occupied during the day and is always happy to see you arrive home. Juno is strong but despite her medium size still acts like a baby and will sit on your lap if allowed. She loves to sit next to you, and often sits on your foot or leans into your leg just to be close.

Juno loves to play ‘wind in my face’ out the window of the car - which makes a hilarious sight as her big floppy ears and jowls flap around in the breeze.

Her pointer instincts means she naturally has a high prey drive which is evident when she points at animals like ducks with her paw in typical ‘pointer style’.

Juno is friendly to people, obedient and easy to train. She is also playful but has been trained to use a soft mouth.
She is affectionate and happy to lounge about if you are too.
Her pointer ‘point’ is typical of the breed. She does not seem to get car sick or nervous. Occassionally she has been possessive of food.

Ideal home.
Juno will suit active people who love the outdoors but are also looking for a doggy companion to share affection with during the quiet times. Families with older kids, active empty nesters / retirees preferably with experience with the breed would be ideal. She needs a medium to large secure yard with no other pets. Juno is smart and learns quickly and adapts to new routines.
She will not suit homes where residents are young, frail, elderly or time poor. Due to her size and love of food she is not recommended for a novice dog owner.

Other dogs?
Juno is usually fine outside the home although sometimes needs time to warm to new friends. She has had two arguments over food with another dog in the home over a 3 year period which is why she needs to be the only pet in the home.

Cats?
Juno has lived with cats and has never hurt one but it could be a ‘prickly’ relationship. We strongly recommend a home without cats.

Kids?
Due to her size we recommend any kids be teenagers or older and only if gentle and calm.

Size.
35 kgs.

Exercise requirements?
Medium – Juno is playful and energetic. She enjoys walks, swimming, running, playing fetch and training with treats/rewards. However, she is also content to lounge around and have pats and cuddles.

How is this dog on a lead?
Juno is well behaved in the hands of a firm but kind owner who can give her the instructions she is accustomed to.

How is this dog off the lead?
She will usually stay close by and come when called when in the hands of someone who has experience with the breed. The ‘pointer’ in her may see her want to chase after birds etc at times but she usually comes back.

Escape artist?
Juno may take advantage of an open gate to wander off to explore but she usually comes back quickly. Juno needs a medium to large secure yard with normal colour bond fencing of around 4 -6’.

Nuisance barker or destructive?
Juno’s current neighbours compliment her carer’s on their ‘no fuss dog’. She may alert you to something strange but is not currently a nuisance barker. Juno did save the family from an intruder once. If not exercised and left alone for extended periods of time it is natural to expect she may dig a little due to boredom.

Toilet trained?
Yes.

Tolerance to being alone.
Yes however, she will need a good daily walk and some toys to play with if you are a full time worker.

Likes.
Walks, swimming, car rides, cuddles, pats, food, fetch, tug of war, bones, treats, treat training, hikes, camping, positive reinforcement routine, plus chasing birds or rabbits.

Dislikes.
Yelling, negative reinforcement, being alone for days on end and withholding affection.
