To the best of homes only
Medium Male American Staffordshire Terrier Dog
- Rescue group:
- Off The Chain K9 Rescue Qld
- PetRescue ID:
To the best of homes only and must be an inside dog (sleep inside at night, be allowed inside when humans home etc).
Local council staff made phone calls but despite being first hand witnesses, took no action real towards helping Courage. Police did not attend. We called for hours before driving 3.5hrs to his town to free him. Investigations continue into the owners. We know who they are. We know where they are. And so does DAF and police.
Courage by some miracle, lived to see today. He was incredibly heat struck and stunted from malnutrition. He looks like he's four months old but he is seven months.
Courage gets along fantastically with dogs of all sizes, genders and ages. He also loves children and adults. He has a bit more work to be done in terms of manners around cats and he needs 6ft fencing. His owners didn't care enough about him to keep him in their yard safe so he is used to roaming- but he is ONLY an opportunist. He won't dig out or climb- but if you're silly and leave your bins etc up against the fence he will try to follow you. His current foster has another dog and a normal 1.2m picket fence that is topped with chicken wire to 6ft and he can't/won't get out.
He only barks at people in the driveway and has fantastic manners. He is calm, sweet and loyal. He adores his humans and wants to sit by you. He is mostly house trained (but don't leave your bin lid off- hes clearly used to scavenging for food! )
Courage sleeps through the night and will be a loyal and loving pet.
He is a happy, sweet and loyal boy and only the best of homes need apply. His living conditions (ie living inside) are not negotiable and must be for life. Please don't apply if you rent and are likely to move to a home where outside only dogs are allowed.
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following: real estate approval, fence repair if needed, outside shelter areas and look into the dog's breed dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applications may meet the dogs. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the dog at your home, or in a public place. If you have other animals they must be at the meet.
If at the meet, you and the dog get along- you have the option of either taking the dog on the spot (in exchange for the full adoption fee paid upfront, and contract signed)- or placing the dog on hold for up to 2 days without any holding fee applicable. When adoption begins you will be provided with 7 days' worth of food for the dog, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet carefully and slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold dogs for 3 days or longer, without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the dog, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters and so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit non refundable to avoid time-wasters, especially when it comes to puppies under 5 months of age. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the dog. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you pay a $100 holding fee so we can hold the dog for a week- the day you collect the dog you will sign and adoption contract, and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
On commencement of the trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract, the vaccination cards, desexing certificate, microchip number.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
