Female Medium-hair Abyssinian Mix Guinea Pig
- Rescue group:
- Gold Coast Guinea Pig Rescue
- PetRescue ID:
Candy came to us in Sept 2016 as part of a large rescue. She was suffering from malnutrition but despite this was a happy girl and a few weeks after arriving she presented us with three healthy babies. She shares a large cage with five other piggies and is well socialised. Understandably she is still a little suspicious of humans but is a lot more relaxed than she was six months ago. Her new family need to be keep in mind her horrendous start to life and be desirous of providing her with a quiet indoor environment and gentle handling.
Candy's time at the shelter is being sponsored by Bobby Fisher. For information on sponsoring visit www.gcgpr.com.au/sponsor-a-piggy.html
Candy appears robust with no apparent health issues. She comes worm and mite treated.
First time adopters are asked to visit the "Guide to Adopting" page on our website www.gcgpr.com.au/guide-to-adopting.html before contacting us. If both parties are satisfied that all adoption criteria can be met, an appointment is made for a shelter visit. An Adoption Contract is signed at the time of the adoption. We encourage adopters to house their guinea pigs indoors where they are safe from predators and extreme weather conditions but this is not a stipulation and will not be a deciding factor on whether or not your adoption application is successful. If you are undecided as to where and how to house your guinea pigs and are yet to acquire a cage please contact us as we sell both new and secondhand indoor and outdoor cages which we recommend as being suitable for guinea pigs. Cages which measure less than 1.2cm x 50cm will not be accepted as suitable for two guinea pigs. This applies to both outside and indoor cages. If you already have a cage please attach several photos, including dimensions, to your email.
We sell our own guinea pig food, hay, bedding, Oxbow and other small animal products from the shelter in Pimpama. For more info visit www.gcgpr.com.au/our-food-locations.html
PLEASE NOTE: WHEN LOOKING TO ADOPT A FRIEND FOR YOUR OWN GUINEA PIG/S I REQUIRE YOU TO BRING YOUR GUINEA PIG/S TO THE SHELTER FOR THE PURPOSE OF INTRODUCTIONS SO WE CAN ENSURE ALL ARE GOING TO BE COMPATIBLE.
