It is our pleasure to introduce one very special dingo: meet "Kuli". Kuli was rescued from almost certain death in South Australia, where dingo ownership is illegal and dingoes are sadly a declared pest despite their native heritage.
Kuli was impounded by a local council in South Australia after frequent reports he was chasing stock. Raised alongside the local indigenous community he has become humanised and was causing trouble in the local township. Normal protocol for dingoes seized is euthanasia, as they are sadly a declared pest in South Australia and illegal to keep in captivity.
Luckily Kuli's local council in Ceduna were determined to try to save this special dingo. Now thanks to the hard work of the local council in conjunction with Parks and Wildlife officers, Biosecurity SA have granted Kuli a permit to travel to New South Wales. Rather than face certain death Kuli has instead been given the chance to come and live with us as part of our partner program Sydney Dingo Rescue while he searches for a new home in the more dingo-friendly state of New South Wales.
Kuli has now been with us almost 6 months being socialized and learning basic obedience and acclimatizing to life in captivity. He is an incredible playful, cheeky dingo who adores balls, frizbees and tug-toys and loves to go on long walks and adventures in the bush.
Kuli is looking for a home with either no dogs or a desexed female dog of a similar age/size. He is not suitable to live with cats or pocket pets.
Like all dingoes Kuli is a fantastic climber and digger, and will require a dog enclosure or a secure 2 meter fence with top angling or flat-top extensions (http://www.dog-blog-world.com/dog-fence/), Sydney Fox Rescue are able to provide dingo proofing for your existing yard for between $200-500 depending on the size of the yard. We can also provide and install 6m x 6m dingo enclosures for $500.
Please note SFR do not rehome dingoes to homes without a dog enclosure or modified dog fence like the one described above.
PERMITS- no permit is required to own a dingo or dingo hybrid in NSW at the present time.
Adopting a dingo from Sydney Fox/Dingo Rescue is essentially a three step process:
1. Fill out an adoption form and send it back to us with an email outlining anything else you think might be relevant, particularly what your house and yard are like. Remember our dingoes require an enclosure or modified fencing 1.8m for hybrids, 2.2m for pure dingoes.
2. Come along to meet us and our dingoes at our Blacktown shelter or their foster carers home and let us find the right furry family member for you.
3. Before you can pick up your new dingo you will also need to under a house/yard check and pay your adoption fee. No animals are rehomed unless their adoption fee is paid in full and a yard check has been completed
