About Matilda
Matilda is a calm natured girl. She responds well to gentle handling. Out walking she is calm and walks with encouragement on loose lead. She walks at a good pace, enjoys being patted by volunteers. She can lunge at dogs but she calms down away from the shelter. Volunteers say "Able to get Matilda to focus on me with treats when other dogs walk past. Less reactive" She came from the pound, very thin with all her ribs showing. She is looking good now but she is sensitive about having her feet and her undersides touched by strangers. She would be best as the only pet in the household.
Garden: Needs a home that has more space as well as a garden for exercise and regular walks outside.
Suit Full Time Worker: Not overly needy and can entertain itself. DR recommends play time, dog toys etc.
NEEDS RESCUE EXPERIENCE: Many people grow up with, or own a dog who has had no bad experiences in life. A dog who is confident and well rounded. However, many rescue dogs have not been as lucky in their lives.
Unfortunately, some rescue dogs have been physically abused, neglected and left traumatised. These dogs need someone with previous rescue experience in rehabilitating traumatised dogs with an in depth understanding of and experience in building relationships with these kinds of dogs.
Medical notes
She comes desexed, C5 vaccinated, heartworm free and microchipped. Also included for the love and health of our dogs is a free Health and Wellness Voucher with our DR Vet.
Adoption details
DoggieRescue is a charitable organisation and as such we rely very much on volunteers to manage our adoptions. We answer initial adoption enquiries by email or phone and then arrange an appointment for you to meet some of our rescue dogs.
At DoggieRescue we believe our dogs deserve to find that special someone who will love them and look after them forever. We know that there are homes out there that are willing to accommodate one more little member of the family and dedicate time to their well being.
