About Carla
Carla is a lovely little treasure, she's 9 years young and was found as a stray wandering the streets. After doing her time in the pound, the shelter staff felt she just wasn't coping so transferred her to CRQ to be in foster care and have any health issues addressed. The good news is that for a 9 year old dog she's really quite healthy - Carla needed her teeth cleaned and she has some vision loss but she gets around just fine!
Carla gets along great with other dogs big and small, she shares her foster home with a cattle dog and a mini foxie and they all live harmoniously. She even gets along with cats.
Carla does take a while to warm up to new people. She's quite wary of strangers but she's very sweet natured, and once she knows and trusts someone then she is as loyal as they come.
Being an older girl, and a tiny one at that, she would prefer a home without noisy young children. However, foster mum Nyree says that Carla is patient with her two year old grandchild! Carla finds little children a bit frightening and tends to run away from toddlers (we understand completely!), however when she's safe in her foster mums arms, she'll even let the toddler give her some gentle pats.
Carla is a very quiet little dogs and hardly barks at all - not even when people come to the door, according to her foster mum!
Every afternoon, Carla and her foster mum go for a walk. She walks for about 15-20 minutes, a nice amount of time to keep her active without wearing her out. But other then their afternoon walk (during which Carla is excellent on a lead and very well behaved), Carla is a real couch potato who loves lounging around both inside and outside. A snooze in the sun is a lovely way to spend the afternoon before an evening of napping in a soft bed!
If you have room in your home for a couch potato Chi, and don't mind an afternoon walk, Carla will be ready for adoption soon.
Medical notes
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs have been fully health checked by our vets. We offer a free post-adoption health check with Greencross Vets at Chermside, Jindalee, Browns Plains or Indooroopilly hospitals. This gives you the opportunity to talk directly to the vet about any questions you may have. We provide all veterinary records for each dog, including copies of blood tests, any relevant xrays and medical notes.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heart worm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
Carla has some cataracts in her eyes and reduced vision, but is otherwise healthy for her age.
