Shy and loyal
Medium Female Kelpie Mix Dog
- Rescue group:
- Furkids Animal Rescue Inc.
- PetRescue ID:
Nanook loves having a bath and is very easy, she is owning her bed like a boss lol she sleeps most of the afternoon she is very calm.
She is not barking or crying at night now - when she first came in she was missing her puppies but she has come along in leaps and bounds. She is a beautiful girl and is loving being an only dog and is happy.
"Nookie" is a sweet girl, strangers make her excited her till she used to them. We can touch her food no worries. She is a Fabulous watch dog, loves to walk on a lead but untested with other dogs.
Due to previous conditions we think she is a bit scared of them. Loves being brushed and very affectionate - all in all a very lovely girl. She has been around kids, but until she's used to them she's very excitable. Just a sweetheart.
Once we receive your Pet Rescue enquiry, we will assess it and if we think you will be suitable we will contact you by phone or email to ask you to complete our adoption application on our website at www.furkidsanimalrescueinc.com.au
After your adoption application is submitted, and we think that you will suit our Furkid, we will arrange a meet and greet with you and the carer at their home or a mutually agreed location.
We may ask that your family and any animals you have already accompany you on the meet and greet. We may also request more than one meet where we would like to assess the meet on a deeper level. Where a puppy or kitten is concerned and has not yet been vaccinated for health reasons, a meet with other animals may need to be completed up to 2 weeks after a vaccination to be safe - so please be patient if we do not allow a meet with your current fur family on the first meet.
Dependent on where you live, a yard check may be performed by a Furkids Animal Rescue volunteer or a proxy volunteer from another rescue at our request. We may also request yard photos which may also be used to complete your application. Only then will approval be considered.
If you are renting - we may ask for a copy of your lease or an approval from your landlord to have a pet as this is one of the major reasons dogs are rehomed.
If the adoption is interstate or in regional QLD, any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family. We can assist you to obtain a quote for transport.
We DO NOT accommodate same day adoptions. This is for several reasons, the most notable is that adoptions can sometimes be an emotional and personal journey and we want you to make the right decision without any pressure. We also allow our foster families to say goodbye to their Furkid that they may have had in their family for some time.
Our adoption fee must be deposited and cleared in our bank account before any animal is released - we DO NOT take cash payments. We bank with the CBA. If you also bank with the CBA the payment is usually cleared immediately. Other banks can take up to 48 business hours to be processed.
When you collect your Furkid, there is a 2 week trial period where you are covered under a "foster trial" - if you have any issues with your Furkid you must contact us immediately. We will arrange for vet care or any other requirements during this time. We can also help with training to assist your new furkid settle in their new home and dietary and behavioral training during this time.
If for any reason the furkid needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum $50 in addition to any other costs such as transport etc...) will be returned via bank transfer within 10 working days. We do not deal in cash - we will only refund via bank transfer.
If the furkid is returned after the 2 week trial period generally no refund will be made.
*If a Furkid is to be returned from an interstate or regional adoption all transport costs will be paid by the adopter.
Any paperwork and the microchip changeover will be completed no sooner before the 2 week trial period has elapsed. In some cases it may take longer as we may need to obtain veterinary paperwork for you or await registration of microchips.
