Hi my name is Isla, I am a 5 year old Pug mix, who has spent my entire life in a breeding facility. A few months ago I came to live with my new foster family and their two dogs.
At first I was very afraid, I have not had much human contact and as such did not understand why these people wanted to touch me all the time.
I don’t like loud noises or lots of sudden movement, it scares me as I am still unsure of the outside world. But my foster family have been really nice and patient with me, understanding that I don’t like the noise the dog door makes so they have propped it open for me to use all the time.
I am a fast learner and take all things in, I just need to build my confidence and trust in others. I would really like a forever home where my humans would have the time to take me to school so that I can learn all the other things that a good dog should know. I do understand Sit, but on a long walk I get bored of always sitting before crossing the road – I just want to keep going ?
I love love love going for drive in the car, especially if it means that we are going to the park or the beach. Swimming is so much fun with the other dogs, but I do get tired so I hitch a ride with my foster brother, Jaxson who is bigger than me.
Being off the leash at the park and beach is the best! I walk well besides my humans and they let me run ahead to smell stuff as long as I keep coming back to them. I like meeting new friends, sometimes the bigger dogs can scare me with their enthusiasm, but that is ok coz my foster sister, Rosie, protects and helps me, and shows me that they are just saying Hello.
I haven’t quite got the hang of toys yet, but I am getting better as I get more confident. I love treats and the strange balls that dispense them – yum.
My humans are now trying to teach me Come. I am not sure I like this, so for the moment I will just sit and let them come to me ?
Everyone who meets me falls in love with me, I think it is my ears – they are my best feature, and they always comment on how much progress I have made. I like my big bed when the house is full, it is soft and comfy, with enough room for Jaxson, Rosie AND me!
I like living here, but I would love my own forever home, with a brother or sister to keep me company and play, and share a bed with.
Isla has lived her whole life in a breeding establishment. She will need to go to a home with an existing dog of similar age and is not suited to a home with young children.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANOTHER DOG, PLEASE DO NOT ENQUIRE ABOUT ISLA AS SHE MUST LIVE WITH ANOTHER DOG.

Prospective adopters are interviewed by phone, followed by a meet and greet. Providing the meet and greet goes well the dogs are left on trial for a week to ensure its a good fit. This is followed by a formal adoption.
Due to us visiting the prospective home for a meet and greet, we do not rehome outside of Victoria.
