About Milly
Playful, affectionate, loves to play and easy to love.
Folks who wish to meet Milly will be given preference if you submit the form on this link - http://www.dogadoption.org.au/adoption---expression-of-interest.html
Other dogs
Milly is currently living with a female dog (4yrs old) at home who she tries to dominate but there is no aggression. We recommend no other dogs. She seems to be fine in social situations.
Cats
Never met one
Kids
Milly still exhibits a lot of puppy behaviour and hence, may jump up. Milly does not like the chaos of a really young family. We recommend primary school kid and older.
Size
6.5 kgs of gorgeousness
Exercise requirements
Medium - High. ‘’Full of beans’’. She likes to sleep during the day but is also pretty full on in the afternoon - lots of energy for play. Milly will not be suitable for a frail or elderly person as she has way too much energy.
How is your dog on/off a lead?
At the moment this 1 yr old takes off in search for an adventure and won't come back when off lead.
Escape artist
She has never escaped by her own means eg: jumping/digging. However, you need to exercise caution. If a gate or front door is left open, Milly is off !! Inquisitive little pup. This can usually be ad-dressed with training but you will need to have the skills and motivation.
Toilet trained
Yes
Tolerance to being alone
Milly is a companion dog and loves people. Preference will be given where she has company more often than not however, if you work full time another dog for company may also suit.
Likes
Play, fetch, run, chew, EAT, cuddles, sprinklers plus getting under things and into small places.
Dislikes
Milly hates loud, aggressive movements. She is timid around larger dogs, the hair dryer (at groomer) plus thunder and fireworks. This is all pretty standard for this breed.
Ideal home
A family with older children or active seniors. She was bred to be a companion ‘’lap dog’’ and hence, would thrive where she is the central focus of the household and preferably a single dog. If you work full time and are looking for play-mate for your current dog, Milly is probably not for you. She also needs a good sized yard and plenty of room to play and explore. Milly will be destructive if left alone in a small yard and allowed to become bored.
Generally
Milly loves to play and will take off with toilet rolls, underwear and smaller items. She is not generally destructive with larger items. eg; couches, but does need stimulation. Milly is an early riser and energetic in the morning but sleeps throughout the day again picking back up in the evening. She thrives on love and attention, loves to play with toys and adores playing ‘’fetch and run’’. Her nick-name is Millys-bean :-)
Milly is happy to be both a lap dog and also a more independent dog able to amuse herself. She loves people and is happy around other dogs of a similar size. She does try to take off with most things put within her reach eg. baby toys, toilet rolls but this is normal for a dog of this age and breed. She is also a great alert dog. If you don’t give her the attention she wants this dear little ‘’diva’’ will demand it.

Adoption details
We strongly recommend you read the dogs' profile carefully as everything we know about the dog/s is listed.
If you are interested in a dog we invite you to submit an application form so we can learn more about your circumstances. This is to ensure we match the right dog to the best home. (one form per family - not per dog) http://www.dogadoption.org.au/adoption---expression-of-interest.html
This is for the benefit of both the dog and the potential new owner/s. It also saves time and uses limited resources more effectively.
Once the essential criteria is confirmed we put you in touch with the carer for a more detailed chat with a view of meeting the dog/s.
If you decide to proceed with the adoption we make a time for a house check.
The adoption fee is then paid (there is a 2 week cooling off period.) Please note we do not usually allow trials.
Foster carers are also able to adopt foster dogs once approved.
