Well, Hello there! My name is Lucy and I always get THE best sleep in the shelter. Dogs barking? Gates Buzzing? Cats meowing? Doesn’t bother me, because I cannot hear it as I am deaf!
I cannot get enough of playing, to the point where sometimes I hurt my little nose but that doesn’t slow me down. Chasing balls, playing tug-o-war, sometimes even playing smack down with another dog (I don’t like all of them though, they have to be very handsome and tolerant for me to like them).
Once I finally wear myself out (or the volunteers take my toy away, not fair) I love to cuddle up and get belly rubs.
I hope to find someone who is willing to get to know me and will love me for my quirkiness, it may be a long process until I am ready to go into a home but will you please be the one who does?
Hello from Lucy's staff....If you think Lucy might have the possibility to be your new family member, pop along to the Refuge during our opening hours of 10am to 3pm daily to meet with her. Or you can telephone 9398 6616 during the opening hours if you would like to chat to a Dog Carer about this special girl.
An appointment can also be made for you to meet our Behaviourist, so he may advise you on how to proceed with Lucy.
Deaf dogs can be such a joy to you and your family.
All APS dogs are vaccinated, sterilised, micro-chipped, wormed and given a vet health care check, all of which is included in the adoption cost.
Visit the Refuge, speak with the Carer of the day and if you are approved to adopt one of our cats or dogs the process will then be taken further.
An inspection of your home and premises will take place prior to any adoption of APS dogs and puppies.
