About Sooty
Sooty was previously used as a breeding sow for "mini pigs" (which is a scam, mini pigs do not exist in Australia) and when rescued she was emaciated, extremely fearful of humans, and had skin disorders such as mange, causing her to be bald.
Her health has improved dramatically and she now sports a beautiful black coat, long fluffy tail and looks fantastic.
Due to her previous mistreatment, Sooty is still somewhat cautious around humans. However once she knows you are her friend, she will come running to see you and enjoy being patted/scratched or hand-fed treats.
Sooty can be housed with others pigs but will need time to sort out the "pecking order". She will require a paddock or large enclosure with strong fencing (eg. diamond mesh) or electric fencing as she is very good at hopping through plain wire fences and going for walks.
Medical notes
Sooty has been de-wormed and vet-checked, however she is not desexed due to her age and status as a former breeding sow. She can be desexed upon request but it would be at the adopter's expense.
Sooty is a fairly small pig due to her breeding (and we suspect, due to being malnourished), but she will require a fair amount of space and food. Please only apply to meet/adopt Sooty if you are able to provide a suitable home for a pig of her size.
