About Hammond
Hammond is a happy little fella who had a rough time before we took him in. We originally saved him a pound in NSW where he was facing certain death. He is a energetic little chap for his age. He loves to go for walks and handles very well on the lead. He is currently living with a female lab and has been living with cats and kittens. He had to have most of his teeth removed as when we got him there were so rotten to the point of being infected. This does not stop him in any way. He is still able to eat dry food and has a fantastic appetite! He does like to make sure no-one is going to eat his food and if you are another dog or cat and get too close he will let you know. He can get a little grumpy if you are a cat and you get in his face and hiss at him, but generally gets on well. He loves humans and will follow you everywhere if he is able to. He needs to be in a properly fenced yard as being like all Jack Russell's loves adventure and will take himself on one if given half the chance! Hammond we think had suffered abuse at some stage in his life and will drop and whimper when he sees a cricket bat or something similar so he needs a family who are able to help him with his insecurities. He has had some exposure to children and we think he would be better suited to older children rather than young children. He would be best in a home where he has someone home with him all the time or has another dog that he gets along with to keep him company and occupied. Hammond is a very lucky little man who will make someone a faithful and loyal companion.
Medical notes
Hammond like many older dogs is on 2 types of heart medications as he has a slight heart murmur. We grind the tablets up and give them to him in butter as he does not like taking tablets.
Adoption details
After seeing an animal you are interested in we ask you to fill out an adoption expression of interest form which tells us a bit about you, your lifestyle and any previous pets. A meet and greet is then organised for you to meet your prospective new furry friend and if all goes ok, you are then able to adopt your new furry housemate.
