About Nigel
Up for adoption is our beautiful foster boy Nigzy (Nigel).
He is a devine cat to look at, and has a beautiful BIG personality! We often liken him to a dog as he enjoys following his human friends around, cuddling on the couch and talking!
We suspect Nigzy is between 12 and 18 months old. Whilst in our care he has been desexed, wormed, vaccinated and microchipped (#100890000454423).
Whilst living with us he has learnt how to play with toys and loves to climb and roll around.
He keeps himself well groomed, is litter trained and is very clean.
He has been kept strictly indoors to prevent him wandering (as he loves an adventure) and also to avoid further injury.
In all honesty we were hopeful we could adopt him into our family, but sadly we have discovered he does not act appropriately around other cats. E.g. He plays very rough with some of our young foster kittens, and seems threatened by other adult cats (showing aggression towards them). Ironically he is fine with our very placid big dog.
He would suit a home with adults or older children, we don't think he would be suited to young children that would be inclined pick him up a lot.
He does love his creature comforts and human attention, so his owners would need to be prepared to invest some time into playing and smooching every day. He would absolutely adore being an only fur child.
Now that he has settled into everyday household life he is much more relaxed and content within himself. He seems genuinely thankful for his second chance at life, showing his appreciation with smooches and cuddles on the couch.
Medical notes
Nigzy came to me via work a few months ago (I am a veterinary nurse) after he had been hit by a car. Sadly he had no identification and was not claimed after his 10 day holding period. As he had sustained some injuries from the impact of the car, his chances of having a second chance at life were pretty slim, so my partner and I decided to take him in.
Fortunately the only injuries he obtained were superficial grazes and a minor pelvic fracture, which did not require surgical stablilisation, only strict cage rest. Months later, Nigzy has gained weight, is fighting fit and his pelvic injury is almost undetectable (even on repeat xrays).
Adoption details
We will send Nigzy to his new home with a care package including some of the food he is currently eating (Hills Science Diet Dry), microchip forms, etc, and he will also be up to date with his worming/flea treatments.
We are asking for $100 to go towards his treatment and care costs. This money will also allow us to continue to take in and rescue more abandoned and unwanted stray and sick animals.
If you think you may be able to offer this special boy the forever home he deserves, please don’t hesitate to contact me, so we can arrange for you to meet him.
The pictures just don't do him justice!
