About Snickers
Snickers was only 1.5-2 weeks old when he saw his mother and siblings ripped apart by a cat in the garage where he was born. He must have had luck on that day, because he was the only survivor, found hiding and defenceless. The family who found him rushed him to our shelter late at night, where we bottle fed him for many weeks till he was strong enough. He has since been socialised with many animals, including our rabbit-friendly cat, and shows no signs of phsychological scarring :) Snickers is a healthy and happy young rabbit, with lots of personality.
The bad news is that Snickers is a true wild rabbit. This means that for as many generations that we know of, his background is from the wild, and he does act differently to your average domestic bunny. Full of muscle and strength, he is quick, and takes a while to know new people. With his family he is very affections, thanks to the many hours of care every day from our volunteer Chris, who sits with him in the house as he explores and plays. He understands commands (like clicking your fingers means "stop chewing that") but he will mostly choose to hop onto your lap for a cuddle during his free-range time.
Although Snickers is not your average pet, we hope that somewhere, someday, there will be a person out there willing to give him a go in their family. He will need a mature household, and someone willing to continue his handling and socialisation, to ensure he doesn't become feral. If you are not able to give Snickers a home but would like to help him along, please e-mail us about our sponsorship programme.
